About the Role This is a hands-on contract chance with a growing infrastructure organization, sitting at the intersection of network design and project delivery.

The Junior Network Designer supports senior-level architects by translating high-level designs into precise device configurations, keeping documentation current, and providing on-the-ground support during network cutovers and migrations.

It is a structured role with real mentorship built in, not just a support ticket queue.

The ideal candidate has one to three years in a network technician, junior designer, or NOC role and is ready to step into the design and implementation lifecycle.

You are comfortable in a CLI environment, methodical about documentation, and confident communicating progress to project managers and non-technical stakeholders.

You take naming conventions and change control seriously and you are willing to participate in occasional after-hours maintenance windows when the work calls for it.

Key Responsibilities 1.

Generate device configurations for routers, switches, and firewalls using standardized templates based on designs provided by Senior Designers 2.

Create and maintain detailed network diagrams in Microsoft Visio, covering logical topologies, physical rack elevations, and floor plans 3.

Update Network Management Systems and monitoring tools so all new assets are accurately tracked, labeled, and monitored 4.

Provide hands-on support during network cutovers and migrations,



verifying correct implementation and testing connectivity post-change 5.

Maintain accurate records of IP address assignments (IPAM) and port allocations to keep inventory current 6.

Coordinate with Project Managers on status updates and act as a technical liaison to ensure networking requirements are met on time and to standard 7.

Follow formal change control processes and participate in scheduled maintenance windows as required Required Skills & Experience 1 to 3 years of experience in a Junior Network Designer, Network Technician, or NOC role Hands-on experience with Cisco IOS or a comparable CLI environment Solid understanding of switching fundamentals including VLANs and Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and core routing concepts Working knowledge of the OSI model, IP subnetting, and protocols such as OSPF and EIGRP Experience using Microsoft Visio or similar diagramming tools for technical documentation Familiarity with formal change management processes and comfort working during scheduled maintenance windows Degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience Clear written and verbal communication skills in English (native or bilingual proficiency required) Must have valid authorization to work in Canada Preferred Skills CCNA or higher-level Cisco certification Experience with a Network Management System such as Solar

Winds, Cisco ISE, Palo Alto Panorama, or Infoblox Basic Python or scripting knowledge for configuration automation
