Position Overview The Land & Resources Cluster within the Government of Ontario is seeking a Senior Systems Testing/QA Specialist to provide expert-level quality assurance and testing support for enterprise IT applications and initiatives.

The QA Specialist will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive testing strategies, test plans, test cases, automation scripts, and test reports across GUI and non-GUI environments. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, development teams, project managers, UAT leads, and other technical resources throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

The resource may also be assigned, as required, to projects or initiatives related to Bill 5 – Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act 2025.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement comprehensive QA and testing strategies for enterprise-level IT projects.

- Develop detailed Test Strategies, Test Plans, Test Cases, test scenarios, and test scripts aligned with business and technical requirements.

- Execute testing across GUI and non-GUI environments.

- Perform all phases of system testing, including:
- Functional testing

- Integration testing

- Regression testing

- System testing

- User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

- Perform testing within Agile/Scrum and sprint-based development environments.

- Work closely with business analysts, developers, project managers, UAT leads, and other stakeholders throughout the SDLC.

- Test workflow-driven applications, particularly solutions developed using IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW) and/or IBM BPM.

- Develop and execute automated test cases using Selenium or equivalent automation frameworks.

- Integrate and execute automated testing as part of CI/CD pipelines.

- Conduct API testing using REST and SOAP services.

- Validate API request/response formats, authentication mechanisms, error handling, and data responses.

- Perform backend database testing, including validation of PL/SQL jobs, data integrity, and performance.

- Write and execute SQL/PL/SQL queries for test verification, validation, and analysis.

- Perform testing for migration-based projects, including:

- Data mapping validation

- Data transformation validation

- Pre-migration data integrity checks

- Post-migration data integrity checks

- Business rule continuity validation

- Functional equivalence validation

- Identify, isolate, replicate, document, and trace defects.

- Conduct root cause analysis and work with development teams toward defect resolution.

- Manage the complete defect lifecycle, including defect logging, triaging, tracking, retesting, and closure.

- Coordinate defect reviews and resolution activities with UAT leads and project stakeholders.

- Develop and maintain UAT artifacts, including test cases, execution results, defects, findings, and reports.

- Perform AODA and WCAG compliance testing for web applications and documents.

- Conduct security and access-control testing, including validation of:

- User permissions

- Authentication mechanisms

- Authorization

- Access controls

- Data protection

- Test OpenText Content Management Systems, including:

- Metadata accuracy

- Document workflows

- Version control

- Access permissions





- Prepare test execution reports, defect summary reports, test results, and other QA documentation.

- Provide explicit communication of testing results, risks, defects, and technical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

Required Experience & Qualifications

1. QA / Systems Testing Experience – Mandatory

- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Systems Testing/QA Specialist on enterprise-level IT projects.

- Robust experience with QA methodologies, SDLC processes, and Agile testing practices.

- Demonstrated experience developing Test Strategies, Test Plans, and detailed Test Cases.

- Strong hands-on experience executing comprehensive system testing.

2. Agile / Scrum & Test Management – Mandatory

- Hands-on experience working within Agile Scrum methodologies and sprint-based development cycles.

- Experience using Azure DevOps or similar tools for:
- Sprint management

- Test case management

- Defect/bug tracking

- Test reporting

Automation

Testing – Mandatory

- Strong experience developing and executing automated test cases.

- Hands-on experience with Selenium or equivalent automation frameworks.

- Ability to create, execute, analyze, and maintain automation scripts.

- Demonstrated ability to use automation to improve test coverage and testing efficiency.

4. IBM BAW / Workflow Application Testing – Mandatory

- Extensive experience testing workflow-driven applications.

- Experience with IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW).

- Experience with IBM BPM/workflow-based applications is highly relevant.

- Ability to validate workflow functionality, business rules, process flows, and functional outcomes.

5. API Testing – Mandatory

- Hands-on experience testing REST and SOAP APIs.

- Experience validating

6. Database / PL/SQL Testing – Mandatory

- Strong experience with backend database testing.

- Experience testing Oracle databases and/or equivalent enterprise databases.

- Test verification

- Data integrity checks

- Test analysis

- Experience validating database performance and data integrity.

Migration

Testing – Mandatory

Experience working on migration-based projects, including:

- Data mapping validation.

- Pre-migration data integrity checks.

- Validation of business rule continuity.

- Verification of functional equivalence between legacy and target systems.

Defect

Management – Mandatory

- Experience managing the complete defect lifecycle.

- Experience logging, triaging, tracking, retesting, and closing defects.
