Our client is a well-established, nationally recognized accounting and advisory firm with a strong Vancouver presence are looking for a Principal/Partner to step into an established tax practice — either in Cross-Border Tax (Canada–US personal and corporate) or US Corporate Tax — and take ownership of a mature, active client base from day one.
This is not a business development mandate. The client base exists, the work is flowing, and the expectation is continuity, technical depth, and trusted advisory coverage for an established group of clients. Origination is an asset but not a requirement, what matters most is that clients feel well-served and that the team has a strong technical leader to grow around.
Depending on your background, the role could sit in one of two practices:
Cross-Border Tax — Canada–US Focus
Leading an established cross-border practice supporting clients with Canada–US exposure across personal and corporate structures — inbound and outbound investment, treaty application, high-net-worth and expatriate planning, dual-jurisdiction compliance, and international tax considerations. The mandate is advisory-led with solid technical positioning and a focus on client relationship continuity.
US Corporate Tax
Taking ownership of a large and active US tax practice — managing compliance and advisory delivery across a growing client base,
building team capacity and workflow structure, and acting as the go-to internal resource for US tax matters. This role requires someone who can run a practice, not just deliver files.
What They're Looking For:
- CPA (Canada) and/or CPA (US) — designation requirements vary by practice area; EA considered
- 10–18 years of progressive tax experience with meaningful advisory leadership experience
- Current level of Director, Principal, or Non-Equity Partner — Big 4, national firm, mid-size, or cross-border boutique background
- Deep technical grounding in Canada–US cross-border tax or US corporate tax depending on practice area
- A collaborative leader who develops team capability and acts as an escalation point for complex issues — not just a strong individual contributor
- Client profile experience spanning owner-managed businesses, private clients, and cross-border individuals or entities
Why It's Worth a Conversation:
- An established client base transitions with the role — you're not starting from scratch
- Genuine integration into tax leadership with visibility across the broader practice
- A platform where technical depth is valued and advisory work is the focus
- A firm culture that doesn't require you to choose between doing great work and having a life
