Current Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking a part-time Technical Architect to provide expert technical architecture leadership and advisory services supporting CST Cerner and associated clinical and business systems. The contractor will support initiatives that:
- Improve, optimize, and sustain CST Cerner and related clinical and business system operations.
- Enhance system performance, reliability, interoperability, and end-user experience.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles, technology standards, security requirements, and operational best practices.
- Support the design, implementation, and optimization of integrated healthcare technology solutions across a complex enterprise environment.
Responsibilities
- Leading the design, architecture, implementation, and operational support of Cerner technical components and supporting technologies, including Citrix platforms, authentication and access solutions, systems integration, interoperability frameworks, and supporting infrastructure.
- Providing technical architecture expertise and guidance to clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to ensure solutions align with business, clinical, security, and architectural requirements.
- Supporting the integration of clinical applications and healthcare technologies, including technologies and standards such as Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI), HL7, and other healthcare interoperability frameworks.
- Assessing, documenting, and managing technical dependencies, risks, and impacts across interconnected systems, applications, infrastructure, storage, network, and identity services.
- Supporting troubleshooting, root cause analysis, testing, validation, and resolution of complex technical issues within a multi-vendor healthcare technology environment.
- Developing and maintaining architectural designs, technical standards, implementation roadmaps, and supporting documentation.
- Participating in projects, operational initiatives,
and strategic planning activities as a technical subject matter expert and trusted advisor.
- Collaborating with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, infrastructure, application, and clinical teams to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, supportable, and aligned with organizational objectives.
- Providing technical oversight and recommendations to support system lifecycle management, modernization, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, and the design, implementation, and support of complex enterprise technology solutions.
- 10+ years of experience supporting and optimizing enterprise healthcare information systems within large, complex clinical environments.
- 5+ years of experience with Oracle Health Cerner (formerly Cerner Millennium), including implementation, operational support, optimization, and integration of electronic health record (EHR) solutions.
- Experience supporting large-scale Oracle Health Cerner environments within a Canadian healthcare organization.
- Strong understanding of healthcare interoperability standards and technologies, including HL7, EMPI, interface engines, and related integration frameworks.
- Advanced knowledge of Oracle Health Cerner architecture, workflows, integrations, and supporting technical components.
- Expert-level knowledge of enterprise infrastructure technologies, including Microsoft Active Directory, identity and access management, SQL Server, Oracle databases, virtualization, application delivery, and roaming profile technologies.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and supporting enterprise access and end-user computing technologies, including Citrix platforms, enterprise single sign-on (SSO) solutions, and clinical workstation technologies such as Imprivata OneSign.
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering enterprise healthcare technology solutions across multiple organizations, while balancing technical architecture requirements with clinical workflow considerations.
- Demonstrated experience performing technical architecture, systems engineering, and infrastructure design within highly available, mission-critical healthcare environments.
- Demonstrated ability to assess technical dependencies, risks, and impacts across interconnected infrastructure components, including networks, wireless technologies, storage platforms, identity services, databases, applications, and systems integrations.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for technical teams, project teams, operational leaders, and executive stakeholders.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and achieving consensus among business, clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to design, develop, and govern application and technical architectures that align with business requirements, enterprise technology strategies, and architectural standards.
- Recognized subject matter expertise in one or more enterprise technology disciplines, including Identity and Access Management, Active Directory, Database Administration, Systems Engineering, End-User Computing, Enterprise Architecture, or Healthcare Systems Integration.
