Your OpportunityThe Nurse Practitioner (NP) works for the Medicine department at Grey Nuns Hospital. The NP is a self-directed practitioner who functions in an extended role within the Primary Care Hospital Team (PCHT). This position is full‑time and will have the NP role as a partner of the care team of Hospital Medicine based out of the emergency department, focusing primarily on timely, thorough ED admissions. Communicating with the team, patients, and their families is a priority. Robust skills in decision making, prioritization, and clinical judgement are required.DescriptionReporting to the Senior Director, Operations or Program Manager, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is employed in a variety of settings across the continuum of care, including acute care and continuing care. The NP uses an evidence‑informed holistic approach that emphasizes nursing professions’ values, expertise, and education. The majority of time is spent in clinical practice where the NP role includes, but is not limited to, diagnosing and managing common and complex health conditions, promoting health and preventing illness/injury, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmaceuticals, medical devices and other therapies, and performing procedures, interventions and/or treatments. The NP performs restricted activities within their scope of practice as defined by Schedule 24 of the Health Professions Act, the Registered Nurses Profession Regulations, and the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). In some clinical settings, the NP is considered the most responsible provider.
