Westcana Electric Inc. is seeking a skilled and reliable Traffic Signal Electrician to join our Southern Interior of British Columbia team. The successful candidate will have experience working with traffic signal and streetlighting systems and be comfortable working independently, troubleshooting complex electrical systems, and working safely in public-service environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair traffic signal and streetlighting systems, including controllers, GridSmart camera systems, B.C. pedestrian signals, RRFB systems, and emerging technologies.
- Respond to emergency traffic signal and streetlight outages, including participation in an after-hours on-call rotation.
- Establish and maintain traffic-control zones in accordance with applicable B.C. traffic-control standards and MOT requirements.
- Safely operate and work from bucket trucks and aerial devices at height and near vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, municipal specifications, electrical codes, and Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD).
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and traffic signal equipment efficiently and effectively.
- Complete accurate service records, reports, and documentation for municipal clients.
- Coordinate with municipal and public works staff, project managers, and other contractors.
- Maintain equipment records and assist with fleet maintenance as required.
- Support project estimating, planning, and scheduling as required.
- Maintain a secure, clean, and organized work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

- Red Seal or Interprovincial Journeyperson Electrician certification.
- Previous experience working with traffic signal and/or streetlighting systems.
- Knowledge of Econolite traffic-control systems is an asset.
- Field Safety Representative (FSR)



designation is an asset.
- Valid B.C. Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driver's abstract.
- Class 3 driver's licence and/or CraneSafe certification is an asset.
- Valid Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Comfortable working at heights and around vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a small crew.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to safety and professional workmanship.
