Job OverviewUnder close supervision, the Technician II performs minor to average routine maintenance and repair services on different types of vehicles. Works with the assistance of a T3, T4, TIC, SS or SM, when performing highly technical and superior diagnostic type repairs. tread depth, tire/P.M. checks, assembly replacement.Preventive maintenance: lube techniques, minimal tire inspection, brake checks, battery checks, under‑vehicle checks, fault code identification.Brake hydraulic and air systems: training, visual checks, leak inspections, brake operation, fluid levels, adjustment of brakes.A/C & Heater: system checks, compressor power, condenser obstructions, belt tension.Cargo handling & transfer, lift gates: leakage identification, gate operation, fluid level adjustments.Charging systems: battery inspection, belt maintenance, alternator checks.Cranking system: battery and cable checks, starters.Lighting system and accessories: minor wiring repairs, bulb replacements, sealed beam adjustments, accessory installations.Clutch: lubrication and adjustment of throw‑out bearing, linkage, shaft, and hydraulic/mechanical clutches.Cooling systems: coolant checks, leak inspections, minor repairs, use of refractometer and pressure tester.Drive axles and line: inspection, oil changes, lubrication.Diesel/Gas engines: oil level checks, noise and leak detection.Fuel systems: filter replacement, component checks.Steering and non‑driven axles: grease fittings, fluid checks, component inspection.Suspension, chassis and cab: make/model identification, air leak checks, basic repairs.Vehicle coupling system: lubrication and operation.Additional support duties as assigned,
including Service Island support.Skills and AbilitiesHighly thorough and dependable; work shifts and weekends as required.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Robust mechanical skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Flexibility, self‑driven mindset, multitasking and excellent organization.Detail oriented with excellent follow‑up practices.Intermediate computer skills.QualificationsHigh School diploma/GED preferred.Basic tools required.Demonstrated aptitude in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work).Vocational or Technical Certification (post secondary degree or technical certifications) preferred.Minimum two years of combined classroom training and work experience.Intermediate computer skills.Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred.Travel & SafetyTravel: Non‑Regulated Tech.
