We have collected data for > 3 million admissions (constituting > 20 billion datapoints) from more than 40 hospitals in all regions of Ontario (caring for > 60% of Ontarians),enabling research about quality of care and patient outcomes. The GEMINI data platform supports > 1000 researchers, clinicians and students from all across Ontario, with > 100 active projects. GEMINI has been a core dataset in > 100 grants that have received more than $200M in funding, held at more than 13 different institutions. GEMINI has become a system-wide resource for research, quality measurement and innovations in hospital care, including in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and advanced data analytics, and supports the training of a wide variety of highly qualified personnel.The GEMINI team is seeking a Research Coordinator II to lead multi-institutional research studies, including the development of research protocol, coordinating REB submissions, execution of research studies (e.G. patient recruitment, data collection), day-to-day project management, and tracking/reporting of study milestones and deliverables. The successful candidate will be coordinating a large multi-centre project aimed at improving sepsis management through the development of AI-driven tools that enable early detection and personalized treatment selection. This project will also integrate social determinants of health into predictive models to identify and mitigate biases, ensuring equitable and effective care across vulnerable populations. This is a team-oriented project, involving clinician scientists, computer scientists, and patient partners with multiple phases. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be responsible for oversight and project management for GEMINI’s growing body of other sepsis-related research.
You will be an integral part of a fun and mission-driven team while working closely with researchers/investigators and clinicians from various expertise and backgrounds.Duties and ResponsibilitiesResearch Duties (50% of work time)Ongoing coordination of research study activities: day-to-day project management of timelines, resources, deliverables, and study tasksDevelop and amend research protocols and related study documents, as requiredPrepare, coordinate, and track REB submissions for multiple participating sitesAssist investigators in the development and implementation of study protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs)Synthesize, interpret, and present research-related information in reports and presentationsSupport and coordinate research proposals, grant applications and grant letters of supportPrepares and leads presentations of research related informationAdminister web-based questionnaires, conduct interviews with research participants, collect and enter data into a data management system (e.G. REDCap)Develop processes, tools (e.G. workflows, Gantt charts), and resources to support team members and projectsDevelop project plans and ensure project milestones and deliverables are metPrepare invoices and reimbursements to external institutionsIdentifies, streamlines, and implements project efficienciesAdministrative Duties (35% of work time)Working with internal and external parties, facilitate the development and execution of study agreements (clinical study, data transfer, subgrants) and other regulatory requirementsLiaises with external vendors for service provider agreements and procurementCreate training materials and manuals as neededCreate the communication plan for internal and external project partnersAssist in the preparation of reports for grant funding bodiesCoordinate and facilitate meetings with internal teams, external partners and large committees or advisory groupsPlan research-related events and knowledge translation events (including workshops, food vendor organization,
and event advertising and marketing)Support research project proposals that use GEMINI data and facilitate approval processUpdate SOPs as part of the Research Operations teamDay to Day Project and Staff Guidance (15% of work time)Develop and maintain research study budgets and fund transfer schedules, reconcile project expenditures and coordinate financial transactionAssists with hiring and onboarding new staff and supports team members through capacity building and coachingEffectively liaise with investigators and researchers from various research partners, such as hospitals, research institutes, and universities throughout research studiesCoordinates, trains, mentors and delegates tasks to Research Coordinator I, Research Assistants and studentsQualifications, Knowledge and Skills:Undergraduate degree in public health, epidemiology, health research methods, or related discipline and three years of relevant research/program coordination experience in a public sector or academic settingORdemonstrable equivalent combination of specialized education and experienceDemonstratedproject planning and coordination skills, particularly for cross-institution research projects with an interdisciplinary teamProvenability to set and meet priorities and deadlines, and to handle multipleassignmentsin a time-sensitive environmentDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively to different audiences through different modes of communication, including and not limited to written, verbal, and presentation skillsExcellentattention to detail, resourceful, ability to adapt and problem-solve/learn new skillsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite and Smartsheet applicationsExperience with a reference manager (e.G.
