Director of Investments - Level 10 (EMAPS)Treasury ServicesPosition number: 31345Job detailsContinuing Full-TimeFull-time: YesPermanent: YesWork schedule: 35 Hours/week (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm)Salary: $51.08 to $91.94 per hour ($92,962.49 to $167,332.48 per annum)Expected Start Date July 13, 20261820 hours workedFor more information please contact: Robin Campbell, Director of Investments, Treasury Services - [email protected] Formal Education/Training:CFA Charterholder, MBA, or equivalent advanced credential strongly preferred; current enrollment in Level 3 of the CFA program, or other relevant qualifications may be considered.Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a relevant discipline is required.Experience:Minimum of 4-6 years of progressive experience in institutional investment management, ideally within an endowment, pension fund, insurance company, or investment consulting firm.Demonstrated experience in portfolio construction, strategic asset allocation, investment manager research, and risk management across multiple asset classes.Experience contributing to investment strategy presentations for boards, investment committees, or senior executive leadership.Familiarity with defined benefit and/or defined contribution pension plans is an asset.An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Skills and Abilities:Broad knowledge of investment products and strategies across public and private markets, including equities, fixed income, alternatives, and real assets.Strong analytical and quantitative skills; experience presenting findings of analytics into clear and actionable information.Proficiency with investment analytics platforms such as Bloomberg, eVestment, or similar tools.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience acrossMicrosoft 365 products (Sharepoint, Powerpoint, Word).Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex ideas clearly and credibly to non-specialist audiences.Working knowledge of investment operations and best practices across a wide range of strategies and instruments.Demonstration of professionalism, sound judgment, and a high standard of integrity in all interactions.Satisfactory work record, including attendance and punctuality.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist the Treasurer in developing and implementing the endowment's investment strategy, including strategic asset allocation, rebalancing frameworks,



and tactical positioning across public and private markets.Conduct analyses to support asset mix decisions and portfolio construction; prepare decision-support materials and recommendations for the Treasurer and Trust Investment Committee; sit as a member of the Trust Investment Committee.Assist in monitoring funds held across internally (operating) and externally managed portfolios, supporting risk‑adjusted returns consistent with the endowment's mandate and spending policy.Monitor the economy, capital markets, and peer endowment practices; maintain a current, informed perspective across asset classes including equities, fixed income, alternatives, and private assets.Assist in integrating responsible investing principles (ESG factors) into manager monitoring, selection, and ongoing portfolio oversight; stay informed on current and ongoing responsible investment initiatives.Oversee the investment program of the operating funds of the University: create and manage the investment policy; establish relationshipswith investment companies; select investments; manage maturities,liquidity and interest rate risk; identify recent opportunities to enhance investment returns; and oversee the accounting and reporting of these investments.External Manager & Custodian OversightConduct manager research, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring; coordinate and participate in manager meetings and performance reviews, providing analysis and recommendations to the Treasurer.Support the evaluation of external investment managers, custodians, investment consultants, and other service providers, including recommending changes as appropriate.Act as a primary point of contact with custodians, consultants, software providers, and other investment vendors.Monitor external managers to help ensure compliance with the University's Investment Policy Statement, mandates, and applicable regulatory requirements.Reporting, Governance & ComplianceAssist in preparing and presenting quarterly investment reporting to the Trust Investment Committee.Contribute to annual reporting requirements, including PRI and carbon reporting, proxy votings, regulatory filings,



and materials for senior leadership.Assist in forecasting investment income across relevant operating and trust portfolios and preparing the investment budget; monitor daily cash flows for liquidity management.Monitor applicable regulations and assist in ensuring compliance across all internal and externally managed portfolios.Prepare regular reporting and disclosures for publication on the University/Treasury Services website.CommunityRepresent the University within organizations such as PIAC (Pension Investment Association of Canada), CAUBO (Canadian Association of University Business Officers), and similar organizations.Liaise and build contacts with peer institutional investors.Represent and be an ambassador for the University within the financial community.OtherSit as a member of the Pension Plan Committees and a member of Investment Subcommittee of the 1993 Pension Plan; provide investment support and advice to both committees and the Pension Office.Assist in the oversight and make recommendations regarding the group retirement pension option offerings outside of the 1993 Pension Plan.Travel as needed to meet with investment managers and potential investment managers to maintain relationships and oversight of manager performance, due diligence, and to share knowledge and best practices.Provide support to the Treasurer, and be available as backup, on the accounting, reporting, and general activities within the office.
