**Job Summary:**
Boart Longyear is hiring a Mechanical Draftsperson to work on drilling equipment used in the mining industry.

This is a comprehensive position with duties required in several areas including maintenance, supply chain and operations.

This position is a full-time permanent position based out of our Haileybury, Ontario office and may require some travel across Ontario.
**Salary range:**
$70,000 to $90,000 annually
**Job Responsibilities:**
Use precision tools like calipers and micrometers to measure components.

Identify material compositions, coatings and manufacturing methods.

Determine critical dimensions, fits, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

Complete detailed designs and specifications, including 3D modeling, drawing creation and document control.

Update legacy designs, drawings and manuals.

Review bill of materials, engineering datasheets and manufacturer part numbers to identify precise components requirements.

Find new suppliers, gather price quotes and build valuable working relationships with current vendors.

Work closely with the maintenance department and operations to confirm part compatibility and resolve equipment issues.
**Education and Experience:**
Mechanical Technician or Mechanical Engineer
3D modeling and drafting
Excellent communication skills—verbal & written
High attention to detail
Exposure to heavy equipment: design, operation, maintenance




Ability to read and understand technical drawings: mechanical, electrical, hydraulic
Understanding of machinery safety requirements
