Job Title: Class 1 Truck Driver – Farm/Ranch Operations
Position Overview We are seeking a reliable and adaptable Class 1 Truck Driver to support daily farm and ranch operations. This role requires a skilled and safety-minded driver capable of hauling livestock, equipment, hay, grain and sawdust while maintaining high standards of professionalism and attention to detail. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, able to troubleshoot minor issues on the truck, and comfortable working in a dynamic agricultural environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Safely operate Class 1 trucks and related farm/ranch equipment.
· Haul cattle, machinery, hay, grain, and other agricultural goods as needed.
· Perform coupling and uncoupling of trailers, including secure loading and unloading.
· Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, and documentation accurately.
· Follow all transport regulations, weight restrictions, and biosecurity protocols.
· Complete logbooks when required and ensure compliance with all hours-of-service rules.
· Diagnose and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues on trucks/trailers, including chaining up in adverse weather or road conditions.
· Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment safety and readiness.
· Service and maintain trucks and trailers, including basic repairs, greasing, fluid checks, and routine maintenance schedules.
· Adapt to changing tasks, schedules,
and priorities within a farm and ranch setting.
· Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and farm staff.
· Cross international borders when required and comply with all related regulations and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills
· Valid Class 1 driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
· Ability to cross the Canada–U.S. border as required (passport or equivalent documentation).
· Willingness to participate in drug and alcohol testing programs if required by regulations or company policy.
· Experience hauling livestock and farm commodities (preferred).
· Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to service and maintain trucks and trailers.
· Ability to self-manage paperwork and maintain accurate records.
· Knowledge of transportation rules, regulations, and safety procedures.
· Physically capable of handling chains, securing loads, and assisting with farm tasks as needed.
· Versatile, dependable, and able to work in variable weather and road conditions.
Working Conditions This role involves outdoor work, variable hours, and periods of heavy activity related to agricultural seasons. A strong work ethic, adaptability, and commitment to safety are essential.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $30.00-$35.97 per hour
