Opportunity
MacEwan University invites applicants for a full-time continuing Academic Advisor chance with our Faculty of Arts and Science. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Operations, you will support both the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BSc), programs, helping students in pursuing academic success at MacEwan University.
Key responsibilities include
- Communicating comprehensive knowledge regarding the BA degree and the BSc degree, as well as relevant MacEwan University policies and procedures;
- Developing information resources and processes and facilitating activities to support student recruitment, success, and retention;
- Providing information, advising, and support to students, parents/guardians, faculty, staff, and external contacts; and,
- Providing sensitive academic guidance to students faced with complex and/or emotional situations.
Skills
You will have:
- The ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing, utilizing a variety of systems and tools;
- Strong problem-solving skills;
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task;
- The ability to work independently as well as the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships;
- Strong presentation skills;
- The ability to learn and use a variety of computer applications. Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Microsoft 365, and Google Suite is preferred; and,
- A keen interest in keeping up-to-date and leveraging teaching and learning applications is an asset, including learning management systems and database platforms.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a post-secondary institution working with students.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
