About the Opportunity
Nexora Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Account Manager on behalf of our client, established organization serving commercial, industrial, First Nations, and residential customers throughout Northwestern Ontario.
The Account Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships, growing sales volumes, identifying new business opportunities, supporting market expansion, and ensuring a high level of customer service while reporting to Director, Sales & Marketing.
This position is suited to a self-motivated sales professional who is comfortable working independently, developing new business, maintaining existing accounts, preparing pricing proposals, monitoring market activity, and travelling throughout the region.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales and Account Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing commercial, industrial, First Nations, and residential customers.
- Identify opportunities to grow sales volumes, strengthen customer retention, and expand existing accounts.
- Actively solicit new business through prospecting, networking, referrals, cold calling, and follow-up on sales leads.
- Prepare and communicate customer pricing using established pricing mechanisms and approved margins.
- Prepare quotations and pricing proposals for prospective and existing customers.
- Negotiate pricing and discounts within established approval authorities.
- Follow up with customers to confirm satisfaction and identify additional service opportunities.
- Maintain current knowledge of products and services to provide accurate information and appropriate recommendations to customers.
- Monitor competitive activity, regional pricing, and changing customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate customer information, sales records, account notes, and follow-up activities.
Business and Market Development
- Identify new markets, territories, customer segments, and business development opportunities.
- Assist in developing seasonal and regional sales and marketing plans.
- Develop account-specific strategies to support customer retention and revenue growth.
- Implement approved sales and market development initiatives.
- Gather and analyze market intelligence, competitive information, and customer trends.
- Participate in promotional initiatives, trade shows, customer events, and other business development activities as required.
- Support consistent corporate branding and professional representation of the client organization.
- Collaborate with other sales professionals and operational teams to identify cross-regional opportunities.
Customer Relationship Management
- Deliver professional, responsive, and high-quality service during every customer interaction.
- Respond to customer enquiries by telephone, email, and in person.
- Build long-term relationships based on reliability, credibility, responsiveness, and trust.
- Investigate customer concerns or complaints thoroughly and work with internal departments to identify appropriate solutions.
- Maintain regular communication with customers regarding service requirements, deliveries, product availability, and account needs.
- Coordinate customer expectations regarding delivery timing, volumes, equipment, and service requirements.
- Take ownership of customer issues and ensure appropriate follow-up through resolution.
Sales Administration and Reporting
- Prepare monthly sales activity plans and regular sales reports for management.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity, customer contacts, opportunities, quotations, and account development.
- Monitor sales performance against established objectives and contribute to sales forecasting activities.
- Assist with reviewing sales trends, margins, customer activity, and market performance.
- Maintain customer files and information in accordance with confidentiality and privacy requirements.
- Liaise with administrative and Finance staff regarding customer credit terms, outstanding accounts, and collections when required.
- Assist with collection follow-up on delinquent customer accounts in coordination with the appropriate internal department.
- Participate in sales, management, operational, and regional meetings as required.
Pricing and Margin Management
- Maintain awareness of approved pricing structures, product margins, and competitive market conditions.
- Support accurate and commercially sound pricing for new and existing customers.
- Monitor customer pricing and identify circumstances requiring review or adjustment.
- Understand basic business finance, including gross margin calculations, pricing impacts, and profitability considerations.
- Escalate significant pricing, margin, or commercial concerns to the appropriate management representative.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with operations personnel to coordinate product and service availability and meet customer requirements.
- Collaborate with administrative staff regarding customer accounts, credit matters, documentation, and collections.
- Work cooperatively with other Account Managers, site personnel, and leadership to maximize business opportunities.
- Communicate relevant customer requirements to internal stakeholders in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain effective professional relationships with suppliers and external business partners.

Education and Experience
- Post-secondary education in Commerce, Business Administration, Business Management, Marketing, Sales, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Approximately five (5) years of progressive sales or account management experience is preferred.
- Previous experience within petroleum, fuel distribution, lubricants, transportation, industrial products, commercial distribution, or a related sector is strongly preferred.
- Experience developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies.
- Demonstrated experience gathering and interpreting market and competitive information.
- Experience developing quotations, pricing proposals, and commercial agreements.
- Experience negotiating customer pricing, contracts, or other commercial arrangements is considered an asset.
- Experience working with First Nations customers, organizations, or communities is considered a strong asset.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and related business applications.
- Experience using CRM, ERP, sales management, or customer information systems is preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's licence with a satisfactory Driver's Abstract.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout Northwestern Ontario.
- Ability to travel by vehicle and, where required, by small aircraft.
- Ability to lift up to approximately 50 pounds when required.
- Ability to work additional hours during seasonal or peak operational periods.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment when visiting operational or customer locations.
Working Conditions The position combines office-based sales and administrative duties with frequent regional travel and customer visits. The Account Manager will spend significant time communicating with customers by telephone, email, and in person and will regularly travel to customer and operational locations throughout Northwestern Ontario.
The role operates in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with changing workloads and competing priorities. Travel may involve remote or industrial environments and varying weather conditions. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to operational environments where protective footwear or other personal protective equipment is required.
Additional hours may be required during periods of increased customer demand or seasonal operations.
