ROLE OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Assistant Branch Manager I is responsible for contributing to Assiniboine Credit Union/ Caisse Assiniboine (ACU)’s goals to integrate values-based banking in every aspect of our business to differentiate ACU meaningfully from other financial institutions; create a consistent and compelling member experience across all of our core channels that makes it easy to do business with us; and grow, in a balanced and intentional way, by attracting new members and deepening existing relationships.
Leading a team of member service representatives and working in partnership with the Branch Manager, the Assistant Branch Manager will foster a proactive advice and service delivery culture with high member satisfaction. Leading by example the Assistant Branch Manager will champion/ supports ACU’s commitment to rural and agricultural communities, francophone services, values-based banking and ACU’s triple bottom line accountability to people, planet, and prosperity in all decisions.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Leadership, Coaching & Culture Building
- Leads, and develops a small team of member service representatives through regular one-on-one coaching, observational coaching and team meetings.
- Responsible for creating a proactive advice and service delivery culture focused on providing a consistent and compelling member experience.
- Contributes to the achievement of the service delivery team’s targets by effectively translating the goals and objectives into operational plans in order to deliver on established team and branch performance objectives. Tracks, measures and reports regularly on progress towards goals and results.
- Act as a change agent to contribute to branch and organization wide objectives and shift the culture towards proactive advice and service delivery.
- Champions a digital-first mindset by inspiring, educating, and empowering the team to embrace digital solutions, driving engagement and adoption through proactive leadership and strategic guidance.
- Demonstrates understanding and leads by example of ACU’s commitment to values-based banking, shared value, respectful workplace and diversity and inclusion.
- Ensure that all programs, policies and processes are implemented in a manner that supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
Member Experience & Service Delivery
- Delivers and coaches to a seamless member experience on all member transactions, making it easy to do business with ACU.
- As part of the front line team, is often required to support members directly on the frontline.
- Conducts initial conversations with members to uncover member needs, and identifies the appropriate point of referral. Ensuring a warm hand off along to the appropriate team member.
- Solves routine member and operational issues and works closely with the Branch Manager on more complex issues with an aim to provide first contact resolution and ensuring the needs of members, employees and the credit union are met.
- Performs effective lobby management, monitoring the flow of members within the branch and ensuring all members are greeted on arrival.
- Promotes, educates and assists members with a digital-first mindset and technological solutions.
Branch Operations & Risk Management
- Ensures required reporting is completed timely and accurately, and internal audit processes are followed with an aim for first time right.
- Participates in opening and closing duties of the vault, ATM and cash recycler units.
- Keep strictly confidential on the affairs of anyone whose private information becomes available to them in the course of their duties.
- Contributes to the day to day service delivery and member experience of the branch
- Assists the Branch Manager with implementing frontline business plans to facilitate financial target achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities.
- Supports communication focused on frontline operations and occasionally supports all branch communication.
- Responsible for compliance and risk management, through the execution of internal policies and procedures, maintain ongoing compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements at all times.
- Ensure that branch operations are conducted in a manner that supports ACU’s commitment to rural and agricultural communities, francophone services, value-based banking, respectful workplace and diversity, equity and inclusion.
- May be required to lead teams in multiple locations
Community Engagement & Industry Awareness
- Act as an ambassador of ACU by being visible in the community in support of corporate and community initiatives.
- Accountable for maintaining current and relevant knowledge of industry trends, competitor products and strategies.
- Act as a change agent and early adopter of all new initiatives to advance operational objectives and the member experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and experience The competencies of this position are typically acquired through 2-3 year of experience in a financial intuition with the ability to provide advice on basic lending and investment inquiries
Key Occupational Skills:
- Utilizes leadership skills in interactions with a focus on providing individual and team coaching, and fosters a team environment
- Proficient communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships
- Ability to effectively utilize time management skills to support operational demands both as an individual and of the team
- Digital literacy using a variety of systems and tools
- Working knowledge of all credit union products and services to answer general inquiries and identify opportunities In addition, the Assistant Branch Manager:
