The Assistant Grafting Supervisor plays an key role in helping maintain the quality, efficiency, and consistency of our grafting operations. Working alongside the Grafting Supervisor, this role helps create a productive team environment by supporting daily production, promoting quality standards, and ensuring employees have the guidance they need to succeed. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading by example, coaching others, and building leadership experience while remaining actively involved in greenhouse production.
About the Role The Assistant Grafting Supervisor supports the Grafting Supervisor in coordinating the day-to-day operations of the grafting department. In the Supervisor's absence, this role provides frontline operational support by assigning daily work, monitoring productivity and quality, coaching employees, and addressing routine operational concerns. Employee performance concerns, disciplinary matters, safety incidents, production changes, or decisions requiring management approval should be discussed with and escalated to the Grafting Supervisor, Operations Manager, or other designated leader for guidance and direction.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Grafting Supervisor in coordinating daily grafting activities to meet production schedules.
- Assist with assigning daily work, monitoring productivity, and adjusting priorities to help achieve production schedules and daily targets.
- Provide day-to-day coaching, guidance,
and support to grafters while promoting a positive, collaborative team environment.
- Help train new employees on grafting techniques, quality standards, and safe work practices.
- Monitor grafting quality and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Resolve routine production and workflow issues while escalating employee performance concerns, safety incidents, quality concerns, or operational decisions requiring leadership direction.
- Act as the primary operational resource for the grafting team in the absence of the Grafting Supervisor, helping maintain workflow continuity and production standards.
- Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and quality.
- Ensure company policies, greenhouse hygiene, and biosecurity procedures are consistently followed.
- Assist with inventory preparation, workstation organization, and maintaining a clean work area.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

What You Bring
- Previous experience in greenhouse production, grafting, or horticulture is preferred.
- Experience leading, training, or mentoring employees is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing production demands.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to lead by example.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced greenhouse environment.
- This is a casual, on-call position with hours scheduled based on production requirements; a minimum number of hours is not guaranteed.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak production periods.
- Ability to respond to short-notice scheduling requests as operational needs may change.
