Association Manager for the Psychological Association of Prince Edward Island (PAPEI)
PAPEI’s mission is…
▪ To promote an awareness of, and interest in, the discipline and practice of psychology in Prince Edward Island.
▪ To encourage interaction among those persons involved in all aspects of psychological services.
▪ To arrange for informed discussions of issues, practices, and approaches within the science of psychology.
▪ To develop an authoritative voice to speak to interest groups, and government, regarding social policy and relevant human management concerns.
▪ To represent the interests of Prince Edward Island Psychologists at a regional or national level.
▪ To promote continuing education around psychological standards and ethics for psychologists on Prince Edward Island
▪ To lay the groundwork of the establishment of a clearinghouse for public information and services in psychology which are available to the citizens of Prince Edward Island.
Key Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Executive Committee of the PAPEI, the Association Manager will be responsible for the following key activities:
▪ Updating website ▪ Updating private practice directory
▪ Membership tracking
▪ Supporting Treasurer
▪ Governance support, including setting up meetings, managing agenda, taking minutes and coordination of all related meetings (i.e., Executive, ad hoc project, Psychology Month, AGM, etc.)
▪ Formatting and sending formal letters
▪ Supporting the Executive with tasks, deadline management, etc.
▪ PAPEI email monitoring/response; triage emails to members of Executive who are capable of answering questions; building FAQ for website, distribution to members; various other forms of media and external communications and relations
▪ Supporting organization of conferences, professional development activities, guest speakers/talks; venue management
▪ Various other administrative duties to support the Executive as required

This is a part time, contract role requiring 8-10 hours of service per month. However, the actual volume of work each month will vary depending on PAPEI needs.
Education and Experience
▪ College or Undergraduate degree, with administrative experience
▪ Interest in developing understanding of psychologists’ culture and practices
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
▪ Reliable member of the team with a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality
▪ The ability to focus and set priorities and a proven commitment to excellence
▪ Must be a strategic and pragmatic thinker, with a focus on attention to detail
▪ Proven record in demonstrating tact, judgment and diplomacy
▪ An accomplished problem solver with the ability to quickly assimilate, analyze and interpret information
▪ Strong verbal and written communication skills
▪ Knowledge of Squarespace would be an asset
▪ Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to use meetings platforms is required
This is a primarily a virtual position and the incumbent will be required to work from a home office, however, some in person meetings may be possible. Much of the business of the Association is carried out via email, telephone contact, virtual platforms, and meetings. The incumbent must be comfortable working in this independent environment.
