About Us

Casestudy Cafe is a cozy, neighborhood-rooted coffee shop built right where I grew up. Having spent my childhood walking these exact Richmond blocks around Richlea Square, opening this space is a passion project to give our local community a warm, unpretentious living room to slow down, connect, and chill out.

Our goal is simple: create a comfortable everyday hangout spot with sincere hospitality, paired with an uncompromising coffee and food program. Behind the counter, we operate with a relaxed neighborhood vibe, a curated soundtrack, and an ergonomic bar setup featuring commercial precision espresso machinery and high-speed ventless sandwich ovens.

Whether someone is catching up with neighbors, studying for afternoon classes, or grabbing a morning brew, Casestudy is built by locals, for locals. We're looking for passionate team members who want to help shape this community staple from day one.

The Role & Your Station

As our Server & Cashier, you are the face and rhythm of the room. You keep the front-of-house moving smoothly, connecting our guests with the bar and kitchen stations. We offer both morning shifts and afternoon shifts across the week.

- Hospitality & Register: Greet neighborhood regulars and newcomers warmly, guide guests through our menu, and ring up orders efficiently on our POS system.
- Quick-Service Execution: Pour fresh batch-brewed drip coffees, serve waters,



and plate artisanal pastries and cakes from our display case directly for guests.
- Table Service & Expediting: Assemble drink and sandwich orders onto trays at the pass, deliver them to dine-in tables, and ensure everyone has what they need.
- Floor & Dining Room Care: Monitor the 30-seat room to bus empty ceramics and glassware, wipe down tables promptly, and keep the space clean and welcoming.
- Scullery Support: Load and run racks through our high-temperature undercounter dishwasher, cycling clean cups and plates back to the barista and sandwich stations.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Experience: 1+ years of customer service, cashier, or server experience in a cafe, restaurant, or quick-casual environment.
- People First: Naturally warm, positive communicator who enjoys interacting with guests and building community connections.
- Pacing & Awareness: High attention to detail with the ability to balance taking orders, running plates, and clearing tables during busy rushes.
- Team Mindset: Willingness to move quickly, jump into the dish loop, and support teammates wherever help is needed.
- Certifications: FoodSafe Level 1 is an asset (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).
