Position Summary The Boiler Operator / Maintenance Technician is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining the company’s boilers, utility systems, and production equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.

This is a hands-on role that supports uninterrupted production by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and responding quickly to operational concerns throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities

Boiler Operations

- Operate, monitor, and maintain steam boilers and auxiliary equipment.
- Conduct daily inspections of boiler systems, water levels, fuel supply, pressure controls, and related equipment.
- Monitor boiler pressure, temperature, water levels, and overall system performance.
- Monitor and maintain proper boiler water levels and chemical treatment levels, including checking chemical supplies and ensuring water treatment is maintained within required operating parameters.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of boiler operations, maintenance, inspections, and safety checks.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations and provincial boiler and pressure vessel requirements.
- Respond promptly to boiler, utility,



or equipment issues and emergency situations.
- Identify and report potential equipment or safety concerns before they result in downtime or unsafe conditions.

Maintenance Responsibilities

- Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment, utility systems, and facility equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment, conveyors, pumps, motors, valves, and packaging equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, adjustments, and minor repairs on boilers and associated machinery.
- Assist with equipment installation, setup, modifications, and improvements.
- Support troubleshooting and repairs during production operations to minimize downtime.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area.
- Communicate maintenance concerns, equipment status, and repair updates to supervisors and production teams.
- Maintain appropriate maintenance and repair records.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

- Valid 3rd, 4th, or 5th Class Power Engineer/Boiler Operator certification.
- Candidates with higher-class certification are welcome and encouraged to apply.




- Previous experience operating boilers in an industrial, manufacturing, or food production environment is preferred.
- Experience with mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting in a manufacturing workplace.
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems, industrial equipment, safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to equipment issues and operational emergencies.

Working Conditions

- Full-time position with the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime when required.
- May be required to work weekends, holidays, or different shifts based on operational requirements.
- Requires standing, walking, lifting, bending, climbing, and working around industrial equipment.
- Regular exposure to heat, steam, noise, machinery, and a food manufacturing/production environment.
- Must follow all company safety, food safety, personal protective equipment (PPE), and operational procedures.
