We are currently seeking a Bottling Line Operator and Packaging Mechanic to join our dynamic Operations team in Truro Nova Scotia!

The Bottling Operator & Packaging Mechanic is a hands-on technical leader playing a key role in keeping bottling, canning, and packaging lines running smoothly and efficiently. Working closely with the Operations Manager and production team, this role operates, monitors, and fine-tunes bottling, canning and packaging equipment while maintaining safe work practices, quality compliance, HACCP requirements, and line performance. As a senior operator, you’ll provide on-line leadership, support maintenance efforts, help train team members, and play an active role in continuous improvement - ensuring safety, quality, and performance of our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Bottling, Canning & Packaging Operations

- Operate fillers, rinsers, labelers, packers, and carbonation/carbocooler systems to run wine through the bottling process
- Perform all required validations, checks, and documentation to ensure product quality and line readiness
- Support bottling, canning and packaging tasks including loading/unloading bottles, labeling, hand-packing, palletizing, and rework
- Inspect packaging materials and finished goods to ensure quality and appearance standards are met
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace
- Perform routine inventory counts and assist with tracking packaging materials

Technical & Equipment Operation

- Perform line setups, start-ups, changeovers, and shutdowns on all bottling, canning and packaging lines
- Conduct hot water and chemical sanitization of fillers, filter housings, and rinsers




- Monitor line quality and equipment performance; make PLC inputs and mechanical adjustments to optimize output
- Actively monitor operating conditions to maintain efficiency, minimize downtime, and ensure top line performance
- Assist maintenance during scheduled and unscheduled shutdowns
- Participate in the upkeep and maintenance of Bottle Shop areas in collaboration with team members

Lead & Team Support

- Coordinate line activities to deliver the production schedule through frequent communication with team members
- Serve as Packaging Lead, supporting daily production flow and troubleshooting issues
- Participate in training and qualification programs for Bottling Operator / Packaging Mechanic roles
- Train and mentor other team members as required
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and best practices

Safety, Quality & Compliance

- Ensure safe work practices are followed at all times
- Report work-related injuries, hazards, and near misses immediately to management
- Maintain quality standards by adhering to SOPs and GMPs
- Report any quality concerns promptly to the QC Supervisor
- Adhere to and maintain HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) programs and food safety controls
- Participate in internal and external (third-party) audits, including audit preparation, execution, and corrective actions as required

What this teammate will bring:

- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience or equivalent training in a manufacturing or production setting
- Related industry background (e.g., bottling, canning, packaging, millwright, refrigeration, or production line operations)
- Experience with packaging quality standards and inspections
- Working knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety systems; audit experience considered an asset
- Forklift training or willingness to obtain certification
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Mechanical aptitude and strong understanding of safe equipment operation




- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without restriction

Work Environment: This role operates within a production environment.

- Physical Effort - Moderate physical demands, ability to lift up to 22 kg occasionally, frequent standing, bending and walking within a manufacturing plant environment
- Physical Environment – Primarily indoor production working environment in close proximity to mechanical, electrical and robotic equipment. Hearing protection and other standard personal protective equipment and GMP attire must be worn
- Sensory Attention - Substantial attention to detail while moving inventory; Operation of heavy equipment with high attention to maintaining a safe environment
- Mental Stress – Ability to work in a time sensitive, fast-paced environmental with multiple priorities and daily deliverables.
- Schedule: Day shifts with occasional schedule adjustments; currently four 10-hour shifts per week, Tuesday–Friday
