Description The Student Services Administration in Student Experience and Support is currently seeking a Full-time Limited Term Case Management Specialist for approximately 12 months.

The Case Management Specialist, Student Care works closely with their Manager and the Director, Student Care, Conduct and Accountability to coordinate supports related to complex student matters. This includes providing institutional response to students experiencing varying levels of distress and connecting students with the most appropriate resources both on and off campus.

The Case Management

Specialist is a key resource in making referrals to, participating in, and delivering interventions from the University of Calgary's Assessment and Care Team (ACT).

This position is located at the UCalgary Main Campus. Work is complex, with peak periods and short timelines for completion. This is a unionized position working 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday, including early evenings, with occasional requirement to work outside of regular hours. This position is also eligible for remote work opportunities in accordance with the University's Hybrid Work Program.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Case Management

- Establish process for case management under the Student Care portfolio in collaboration with the Director, Student Care, Conduct and Accountability.
- Refer individuals to ACT, as needed, for students receiving case management.
- Conduct initial and ongoing risk assessments in line with the NABITA risk rubric.
- Deliver team-recommended interventions to students.
- Schedule appointments with students referred to ACT and/or for case management.
- Conduct intake appointments to assess needs holistically.
- Coordinate action plan, referrals, and support, including follow-up appointments as necessary.
- Connect students with the appropriate resources on- and off-campus.
- Communicate and collaborate with appropriate staff, resources, and the Team.
- Accurate documentation in the record-keeping system (Maxient).
- Act as primary case specialist for ACT.
- As needed, act as an advisor to students navigating institutional processes such as those under the Student Non-Academic Misconduct or Academic Misconduct Processes including those through the Student Conduct Office, Required to Withdraw.

Education and Program Administration
- Conduct outreach and awareness activities promoting awareness of case management services and ACT.
- Participate in the creation of resources and the delivery of education and training activities as a member of the Student Care portfolio.
- Participate in assessment efforts related to case management effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the Manager to triage, respond to, and assess incoming referrals.
- Support with the operations of ACT, including populating weekly agendas, taking minutes at weekly ACT meetings,



and transferring documentation from weekly meetings to ACT case files on Maxient in a timely manner.
- Provide relief coverage for the Specialist, Assessment and Care Team as needed.
- The Case Management Specialist (in collaboration with other staff in the Student Care Portfolio) is responsible for collecting and maintaining data related to the community training and programming offered, as well as other operational statistics that are helpful for the purposes of improving and streamlining the Student Care portfolio's operations.

Qualifications / Requirements

- An undergraduate degree is required; a Master's degree in a relevant field (psychology, social work, student affairs) is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive and increasingly complex professional experience working in the field of behavioural intervention, case management, mental health or wellness support, education, or other related fields required.
- Minimum of two years' experience with risk assessment and crisis intervention; Formal training in threat and risk assessment through NABITA (National Association of Behavioural Intervention Teams) as asset.

- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information within the confines of institutional policies, procedures and requirements in addition to legislative requirements such as the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) is required.
- Experience with documentation management (including electronic documents).
- Experience working with case management database (Maxient, Simplicity etc) strongly preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to support conflict resolution, de-escalate, and model these skills to community members, are required.
- Demonstrated experience with facilitating education and outreach activities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize, work independently and under pressure, and meet strict and multiple timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with multiple departments, organizations, and people in sensitive and complex situations.
