At Alberta Cornea & Cataract Consultants, patient care comes first. Our surgical staff plays an important role in promoting patient confidence and ensuring a safe and positive surgical experience. As a member of our surgical team, you will be an integral part of our commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
We are currently seeking an outgoing, organized, and detail-oriented individual with excellent interpersonal skills for the position of Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT).
We provide both medical and cosmetic (elective) ophthalmic surgical services and serve a diverse range of patients in our community.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform the decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of a variety of ophthalmic instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain excellent aseptic technique and follow established infection prevention and control practices.
- Perform and document biological, chemical, and other required quality assurance testing.
- Ensure instruments and equipment are properly processed, maintained, and available for scheduled procedures.
- Maintain accurate and complete MDR records and documentation.
- Follow all applicable policies, procedures,
and standards related to medical device reprocessing and patient safety.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) with certification through CSA or HSPA.
- 1–2 years of MDR experience preferred.
- Previous experience in an ophthalmology or surgical setting is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and patient safety.
- Ability to effectively multitask, prioritize, organize, and work under pressure and within time constraints.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and supportive team member.
- Ability to work effectively in a quick-paced environment and stand for prolonged periods.
Conditions of Employment
- Successful candidate will be required to provide documentation of their immunization status.
- Must be available to work Saturdays.
- Casual daytime position, approximately 2–4 days per month, Monday through Saturday.
- Schedules are provided in 1–3 month blocks.
