Role Description The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a full-time, on-site role based in Constance Lake, ON, responsible for overseeing all financial operations of Constance Lake First Nation. The CFO manages budgeting, cash flow, and financial planning, prepares and reviews financial statements, and ensures accurate and timely financial reporting to leadership and relevant stakeholders. Daily activities include monitoring expenditures and revenues, implementing financial controls, supporting audits, and advising on financial risks and opportunities.

The CFO collaborates with senior leadership to develop long-term financial strategies, supports funding and grant management, and ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.



The role also includes mentoring finance staff, improving financial processes, and providing clear financial insights to support community-focused decision-making.

Qualifications

- Financial planning and finance skills, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Expertise in preparing and analyzing financial statements, with strong financial reporting capabilities.
- Solid analytical skills to interpret financial data, assess risks, and support strategic decision-making.
- Experience leading finance teams, implementing internal controls, and supporting audit processes.
- Relevant post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; professional designation (CPA or equivalent) is an asset.
- Knowledge of public sector, Indigenous governance, or not-for-profit financial practices is considered an advantage.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and the ability to produce clear, concise financial reports.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to work respectfully within an Indigenous community context.
