We are seeking a passionate and energetic Child and Youth Activity Worker to inspire and engage children and young people through dynamic recreational activities. In this role, you will create a safe, inclusive, and fun environment that encourages social interaction, skill development, and positive growth. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help foster a sense of community and support the well-being of the participants.
Duties
- Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates community-based recreational, social and/or educational group activities to meet children and youth interests and needs.
- Encourages and facilitates youth participation in activities; provides guidance and instructions.
- Monitors and observes children and youth behaviour. Addresses situations in the moment and gives feedback to group facilitator.
- Provides skill-building to children and youth such as life skills and social skills, models appropriate behaviour.
- Ensures the safety of children and youth. Responds to emergencies in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
- Accompanies and/or transports children and youth to group activities.
- Adheres to all policies and protocols including the administering of medication in accordance with established guidelines, procedures, and instructions.
- Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as may be required on group activities.
- Liaison with children and youth families, other community service providers and professionals as needed.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Certificate in a related human/social service field or recreation course. Six (6) months related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A valid B.C. license is essential.
