Become a vital part of M’Chigeeng First Nation’s health services as a Child and Youth Mental Health and Addictions Counsellor. Support youth through trauma-informed care focused on emotional regulation and behavioral management. This regular full time position integrates traditional healing methods with contemporary mental health practices.
You will provide direct counselling, create treatment plans, and conduct community workshops. Collaborate with schools and require a deep understanding of both Anishinaabe culture and Western mental health frameworks. Key Responsibilities:
- Assess mental health needs using a trauma-informed approach
- Provide direct counselling to children and youth
- Develop and implement treatment plans and workplan initiatives
- Conduct community workshops on mental health and addictions
- Maintain case management using the Electronic Medical Record system
Requirements:
- College Diploma in Social Services or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in child and youth mental health
- Knowledge of mental health and addictions prevention
- Excellent public speaking and facilitation skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
