Become a vital part of M’Chigeeng First Nation’s health services as a Child and Youth Mental Health and Addictions Counsellor. Support youth through trauma-informed care focused on emotional regulation and behavioral management. This regular full-time position integrates traditional healing methods with contemporary mental health practices.
You will provide direct counselling, create treatment plans, and conduct community workshops. Collaborate with schools and require a deep understanding of both Anishinaabe culture and Western mental health frameworks. Key Responsibilities:
- Assess mental health needs using a trauma-informed approach
- Provide direct counselling to children and youth
- Develop and implement treatment plans and workplan initiatives
- Conduct community workshops on mental health and addictions
- Maintain case management using the Electronic Medical Record system Requirements:
- College Diploma in Social Services or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in child and youth mental health
- Knowledge of mental health and addictions prevention
- Excellent public speaking and facilitation skills
