Compensation Range

$5,273.67 - $7,576.83 CAD Monthly The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Job Summary

The Children and Youth Education Coordinator plans, coordinates, and delivers children and youth educational programming at the Centre for Sustainable Food Systems (CSFS) at UBC Farm. The position is responsible for seasonal and year-round programs, including summer camps, school programs, field trips, workshops, clubs, and special events that promote experiential learning, sustainability,



and food systems education. Working collaboratively with the Education Manager and the broader CSFS Education Team, the Coordinator develops curriculum, manages program operations, supervises seasonal staff and volunteers, administers program budgets, and builds relationships with schools and community organizations. The Coordinator ensures programs are secure, inclusive, financially sustainable, and aligned with the mission and strategic priorities of the Centre.

Organizational Status

Reports to the Education Manager and operates with considerable independence in planning, implementing, and managing the children and youth education portfolio. Works collaboratively as a member of the CSFS Education Team with the Practicum Lead and the Non-Credit and Micro-Credential Project Lead to support integrated educational programming, curriculum development, and shared learning initiatives. Collaborates closely with other UBC Farm teams, including Operations, Landscape and Maintenance, Research, and Market Programming, to coordinate educational activities and support farm operations. Liaises with UBC departments, including the Faculty of Land and Food Systems, Safety & Risk Services, and other administrative units, as well as schools, community organizations, Indigenous partners, families, and external stakeholders. May supervise seasonal staff, students, and volunteers.

Work Performed

Program Planning, Delivery, and Administrat ion

- Plans,



coordinates, and delivers children and youth educational programs, including summer camps, school programs, field trips, workshops, clubs, and special events.
- Develops annual program plans, schedules, and operating procedures to support effective program delivery.
- Manages program budgets, monitors revenues and expenditures, and recommends improvements to support program sustainability.
- Coordinates program logistics, including registration, scheduling, staffing, facilities, supplies, communications, and program documentation.
- Ensures programs comply with UBC policies and applicable safety, risk management, and child protection requirements, including emergency procedures and vulnerable sector screening.
- Coordinates with Farm Operations and other CSFS teams to support program delivery and operational requirements.
- Identifies opportunities to improve programming, strengthen community engagement, and support program growth.

Curriculum Development and Educational Programming

- Develops, implements, and updates age-appropriate curriculum, lesson plans, educational resources, and learning activities for children and youth.
- Designs educational programming that reflects experiential learning principles, sustainability, and food systems education.
- Collaborates with faculty, educators, researchers, and CSFS staff to ensure programming reflects current knowledge, educational best practices, and farm operations.
- Develops staff training materials and operational resources to support consistent, high-quality program delivery.

Staff Leadership, Partnerships, and Communications

- Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and mentors seasonal staff, students, and volunteers.
