Overview
Join our vibrant early childhood education team as a Childcare Director, where you will lead and inspire a nurturing environment dedicated to the growth and development of young children. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with licensing standards, and fostering a positive, inclusive atmosphere for children, families, and staff alike. Duties
- Oversee the daily operations of the child care centre and ensure compliance with applicable licensing requirements, policies, and regulations.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to early childhood educators and support staff.
- Recruit, interview, onboard, train, schedule, and evaluate employees.
- Develop and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that promotes children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Build positive and professional relationships with children, families, staff, and community partners.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding children's development, centre programs, policies, and concerns.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, attendance documentation, staff files, and children's files.
- Monitor classroom quality, programming, staff performance, and health and safety practices.
- Ensure appropriate staff-to-child ratios and adequate staffing coverage.
- Manage centre budgets, supplies, purchasing, and other administrative responsibilities.
- Respond professionally to parent concerns, staff issues,
and operational challenges.
- Develop and implement center policies, procedures, and emergency plans.
- Organize center activities, events, and community-building initiatives.
- Ensure appropriate health, sanitation, nutrition, and safety standards are consistently maintained.
- Work collaboratively with regulatory agencies, licensing officers, and other professionals as required.Manage the daily operations of the childcare center, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
- Lead, mentor, and support teaching staff to deliver high-quality early childhood education aligned with best practices.
- Develop and implement curriculum plans that promote developmental milestones and foster creativity, social skills, and emotional well-being.
- Maintain compliance with all licensing regulations, safety standards, and organizational policies to ensure a secure environment for children and staff.
- Build strong relationships with families by communicating regularly about their child's progress and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Oversee enrollment processes, including marketing outreach, tours, and onboarding of new families.
- Coordinate staff scheduling, training sessions,
and professional development opportunities to enhance team performance.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Education.
- 2-3 years of experience working in a licensed child care or early learning environment
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, as required.
- Satisfactory criminal record or vulnerable sector check, as required by applicable regulations.
- Knowledge of applicable child care licensing regulations and standards.
- Proven classroom experience working with young children in early childhood settings.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs to promote inclusive care.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development, programming, and best practices.
- Knowledge of caregiving best practices that support children's physical, emotional, and social needs.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team of educators.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, staff, and community partners to foster a collaborative environment.
This is a leadership position within a child care environment and involves regular interaction with children, families, educators, and community professionals. Pay: From $20.00 per hour
