PART-TIME CLINICAL DIRECTOR

Refua | Canada | Remote

Lead Clinical Excellence. Shape the Future of Virtual Care.

Refua is a growing, technology-enabled healthcare organisation focused on making high-quality care more accessible to Canadians. We combine startup speed and ambition with strong clinical standards, sound judgement and responsible patient care.

We are seeking an exceptional senior healthcare professional to join Refua as a Part-Time Clinical Director. This person will bring deep clinical strength, a startup mentality and the ability to help build practical, scalable care programs from the ground up.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced Canadian Physician or Nurse Practitioner who wants to influence clinical strategy, governance, quality and the future of digital healthcare.

THE ROLE

Reporting to Executive Leadership, the Clinical Director will provide senior clinical oversight and ensure Refua operates to the highest standards of clinical quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance and patient-centred care.

You will be a key clinical advisor to leadership and a hands-on builder who helps turn new service ideas into safe, effective and scalable clinical programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide senior clinical leadership and strategic direction
- Establish and maintain clinical governance, standards, policies and protocols
- Oversee clinical quality, patient safety, risk and continuous improvement
- Provide clinical guidance and mentorship to Nurse Practitioners and clinical teams
- Support complex clinical escalations and significant clinical matters

- Advise Executive Leadership on clinical strategy, risk and service development
- Build actual programs for patients and help design, launch and continuously improve the care pathways, eligibility criteria, treatment protocols, monitoring cadences and escalation processes behind them
- Provide practical clinical input into new healthcare services, technology and AI initiatives, from early concept and pilot design through launch and ongoing improvement
- Support regulatory and professional compliance across relevant Canadian jurisdictions
- Help build a high-performing culture of clinical excellence, accountability and continuous improvement

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone who operates at the highest level of clinical and professional standards.

You will ideally have

- Active Canadian registration and licensure in good standing
- Significant clinical experience as a Physician or Nurse Practitioner
- Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership, governance or senior healthcare management
- Exceptional clinical judgement and decision-making skills
- Strong understanding of Canadian healthcare regulations and professional standards
- The confidence and credibility to advise and challenge senior leadership

- A genuine startup mentality: resourceful, practical, comfortable with ambiguity and willing to move between strategy and hands-on execution
- Experience building or improving clinical programs, care pathways or new healthcare services
- A genuine interest in virtual care, healthcare technology and innovation
- Experience in telehealth, digital health, primary care or a high-growth healthcare environment would be highly advantageous

THE RIGHT FIT

- We are not looking for someone who simply wants another title
- We are looking for a high-calibre clinical leader who is respected by their peers, thinks strategically, holds an exceptionally high standard and wants to make a meaningful impact
- Someone who can balance clinical strength with startup speed, innovation, commercial awareness and the realities of scaling healthcare
- Someone who doesn't simply follow standards, they help set them

WHY REFUA?

This is an opportunity to join a growing healthcare organisation at an important stage of its journey and have a direct influence on how exceptional virtual healthcare is delivered in Canada. You will have the autonomy and visibility to shape clinical strategy, governance and culture while working alongside an ambitious executive team. The position will begin part-time, with the potential to develop into a full time role as Refua grows.

Part-time. Senior impact. Real influence.

If you are an experienced Canadian clinician ready to contribute at a strategic level and help build something exceptional, we want to meet you!
