About Us
North Face Centre for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is a specialized surgical practice located in Sudbury, Ontario and led by Dr. Christa Favot, a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.
The practice provides a broad scope of oral and maxillofacial surgical care, including wisdom tooth and complex dental extractions, dental implants, bone grafting, corrective jaw surgery, management of oral and facial pathology, facial pain and trauma, and outpatient sedation and anesthesia services.
Education is also an key part of the practice. Dr. Favot is involved in undergraduate and professional education regularly participates in education of healthcare professionals and learners.
We are seeking a highly organized, creative and engaging Clinical Education & Communications Coordinator to help expand the practice's patient education, professional education, community outreach and knowledge-translation activities.
About the Position
This role is ideal for an individual with a strong background in teaching, education, communication or instructional development who enjoys taking complex information and making it understandable and engaging.
Working directly with Dr. Favot and the clinical team, the successful candidate will learn about oral and maxillofacial surgery and use their educational and communication skills to develop resources for audiences ranging from patients and members of the public to dental hygienists, dentists and other healthcare professionals.
The position combines education, instructional design, healthcare communication, digital content development, professional outreach and project coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop engaging presentations, visual aids and educational resources related to oral and maxillofacial surgery.
- Translate complex scientific and clinical concepts into clear, accurate and accessible information for audiences with different levels of healthcare knowledge.
- Assist with the planning, development and delivery of webinars, seminars, workshops and other educational initiatives.
- Support peer-teaching and continuing-education activities for dentists, dental hygienists and other healthcare professionals.
- Develop patient-facing educational resources that improve understanding of surgical procedures,
treatment expectations and relevant oral-health topics.
- Create evidence-informed educational content for the practice's website, Instagram and other digital platforms, with clinical content reviewed and approved by Dr. Favot.
- Coordinate community education, professional outreach and educational marketing initiatives.
- Assist with internal staff education, team-development activities and the creation of educational resources for clinic personnel.
- Organize educational projects, content calendars, presentations, events and outreach initiatives from planning through completion.
- Review audience feedback, participation and engagement data to continuously improve educational programming and communication strategies.
Qualifications We are looking for someone who brings strong communication and educational skills and is interested in applying those abilities within a specialized healthcare environment.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Postsecondary education in Education, Teaching, Adult Education, Communications, Instructional Design, Health Sciences, Marketing or a related discipline.
- Experience teaching, facilitating, presenting or developing educational materials.
- Demonstrated ability to explain complex information in a clear, approachable and engaging manner.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, time-management and project-management abilities.
- Confidence speaking to individuals and groups with varied backgrounds and levels of subject-matter knowledge.
- Ability to create visually engaging presentations and educational resources.
- Comfort using digital platforms and social media for professional communication and education.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and other members of a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness and ability to learn specialized healthcare and oral-surgery terminology and concepts.
Previous healthcare experience is an asset but is not required.
Training and clinical guidance will be provided. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is an educator and communicator at heart. You enjoy learning complicated subject matter, identifying the information that matters most, and finding creative ways to explain it to others.
You may currently work in teaching or education and be interested in transferring those skills into a new professional environment. Experience designing lessons, presentations, workshops, visual learning materials or educational programming would translate particularly well to this position.
You should be comfortable working independently while receiving direction and clinical oversight from Dr. Favot, and should enjoy taking projects from an initial idea through development, delivery and evaluation.
