Our Client is seek the Intermediate Communications Specialist who will provide professional communications support to Court Technology Services (CTS), who will work closely with the Executive Director, CTS leadership, project teams, and stakeholders to develop and deliver communications supporting organizational change, executive messaging, employee engagement, technology initiatives, and operational communications.
The role requires strong business writing, presentation development, stakeholder engagement, branding, communication planning, and the ability to translate complex business and technical information into clear and audience-appropriate messaging.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop executive communications, including branch updates, leadership messages, organizational announcements, and employee communications.
- Prepare monthly CTS branch communications based on input from the Executive Director and leadership team.
- Develop communication strategies and communication plans for organizational transformation and technology initiatives.
- Create professional communication materials, including:
- Executive briefing notes
- Speaking notes
- Presentations
- Newsletters
- FAQs
- Infographics
- Visual communication materials
- Develop branding and visual identity for CTS initiatives.
- Translate complex business and technical information into clear, concise, plain-language communications.
- Support organizational change initiatives through employee engagement and change communications.
- Review, edit, and quality-check communications prepared by project teams and leadership.
- Review operational communications such as service outage and maintenance notifications and recommend improvements.
- Develop standardized communication templates and guidelines.
- Collaborate with executives, managers, SMEs, and project teams to gather information and prepare communication materials.
- Develop presentations and materials for executive meetings, town halls, leadership forums, and stakeholder sessions.
- Provide communications advice and recommendations to CTS leadership.
- Ensure communication materials align with Alberta Courts standards, visual identity requirements, and plain-language principles.
Mandatory Qualifications
Education
- University degree in a related field such as Communications, Commerce, or a similar discipline.
Communication Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with executives, senior leaders, managers, SMEs, and stakeholders.
Required Experience
- 2+ years developing and implementing communication plans.
- 3+ years developing skilled internal and organizational communications.
- 3+ years developing professional presentations and visual communication materials.
- 2+ years reviewing and evaluating existing communications and recommending or implementing improvements.
- 3+ years of professional business writing, editing, and translating complex business/technical information into clear communications.
- 2+ years working directly with executives, senior leaders, managers, and subject matter experts.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- 2+ years developing branding, visual identity, templates, infographics, or similar communication materials.
- 1+ year developing communications related to technology service disruptions, outages, maintenance, or operational notifications.
- 2+ years providing communications support within technology, IT, digital transformation, or similar environments.
- 1+ year working within government, broader public sector, or similarly regulated environments.
- 2+ years supporting organizational transformation, change management, or employee engagement communications.
- 1+ year using SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, or similar digital platforms to publish or distribute communications.
