About The Role The Data Engineer will report to the Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics and will play a vital role in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise data solutions. This position is responsible for creating and supporting data pipelines, data warehouses, and related infrastructure that underpin business intelligence, reporting, and analytics initiatives.
The Data
Engineer will integrate data from multiple sources, translating business and technical requirements into scalable data solutions. The role involves working with stakeholders to ensure data quality, reliability, and performance, supporting the organization’s data-driven decision-making processes. The successful candidate will develop end-to-end data integration solutions, primarily utilizing Microsoft Azure technologies, and will be instrumental in optimizing data workflows to enhance operational efficiency. This is a temporary 12-month contract position, offering an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and innovative organization focused on leveraging data to drive growth and innovation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Three to five years of experience in data engineering, data integration, or data warehousing
- Proficiency with Microsoft Azure cloud platform, including Data Factory, Data Lake, Databricks, and related services
- Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics
- Knowledge of source code management tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, and Visual Studio
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for data solutions
- Solid SQL skills, including developing complex queries and data transformations
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C#
- Understanding of ETL/ELT design patterns and techniques
- Knowledge of data quality, validation, reconciliation, and data lineage practices
- Experience with relational databases and data modeling techniques
- Familiarity with data security, privacy, and governance principles
- Relevant certifications in cloud computing, data engineering, or related areas are a plus
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable batch and near-real-time data pipelines integrating data from enterprise applications, databases, cloud platforms, and other sources
- Create end-to-end data integration solutions supporting data warehouse, reporting, and analytics needs
- Configure and maintain data solutions using Microsoft Azure services, including Data Factory, Data Lake, Databricks, and Azure Functions
- Translate business and technical requirements into detailed technical designs, data flows, and pipeline architectures
- Develop automated processes for data ingestion, transformation, validation, and delivery to enhance reliability and efficiency
- Monitor data pipelines, troubleshoot failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
- Implement data quality controls, validation, reconciliation, and data governance practices
- Optimize data workflows, queries, and data models for performance and scalability
- Support the design, development, and maintenance of data warehouse schemas and structures
- Ensure compliance with organizational data security, privacy, and governance standards
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including data mappings, lineage, and system configurations
- Apply source control, testing, and deployment best practices, including CI/CD methodologies
- Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to understand data needs and deliver effective solutions
- Provide technical support for production data environments and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Research emerging data technologies and recommend enhancements to the organization’s data capabilities
