About the Role:
The DC Equipment Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the effective operation of distribution center machinery and equipment to support the seamless flow of goods. This position is responsible for operating various types of equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyor systems to move, load, and unload products safely and accurately. The operator will work closely with warehouse staff to maintain inventory accuracy and support timely order fulfillment.
Attention to safety protocols and equipment maintenance is essential to minimize downtime and prevent workplace accidents. Ultimately, the role contributes to the overall productivity and operational excellence of the distribution center in Canada.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification or equivalent training recognized in Canada.
- Proven experience operating warehouse equipment in a distribution center or similar environment.
- Basic understanding of warehouse safety standards and protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret shipping documents and inventory records.
- Physical capability to perform manual labor including lifting, standing, and operating machinery for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with computerized warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Additional certifications related to equipment operation or safety training.
- Familiarity with Canadian workplace health and safety regulations.
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced distribution or logistics environment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maneuver warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling machinery to transport goods within the distribution center.
- Load and unload delivery trucks, ensuring products are handled carefully to prevent damage.
- Inspect equipment daily to identify maintenance needs and report any malfunctions or safety hazards promptly.
- Collaborate with warehouse team members to organize inventory and prepare orders for shipment efficiently.
- Adhere strictly to all safety guidelines and company policies to maintain a protected working environment.
Skills: The required skills enable the DC Equipment Operator to safely and efficiently handle various types of warehouse machinery, ensuring smooth material flow throughout the distribution center.
