Duties
- Safely operate delivery vehicles, including trucks and heavy equipment, to transport freight to designated locations.
- Load and unload cargo using forklifts or other heavy equipment, ensuring proper handling and secure placement of goods.
- Verify delivery orders, check freight for damage or discrepancies, and complete necessary documentation accurately.
- Navigate efficiently using GPS or maps to meet delivery schedules while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and basic automotive repairs to maintain optimal performance and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve issues promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of delivery vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, or freight transportation.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely; certification is preferred but not mandatory with training provided.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation.
- Basic automotive repair skills for routine maintenance checks and minor repairs.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate documentation.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform manual tasks as needed.
