Development Consultant

Health Arts Society | Vancouver, BC (Lower Mainland, remote-versatile) Part-Time Contract | ~20–25 hrs/week | $50/hour | Sept–Dec 2026, potential for renewal An opportunity to help build the next stage of a growing arts organization.

For 20 years, Health Arts Society has brought live music and the arts directly to older adults across BC; through programs like Concerts in Care (our flagship), Artful Encounters, and the Helena Choir. Now we're ready to build a fundraising engine that matches the impact of our programs.

We're looking for an entrepreneurial, hands-on Development Consultant to spend Q4 2026 turning our donor relationships into a real pipeline, re-engaging past supporters, activating our Board's networks, and laying the groundwork for planned giving, DAFs, and a 2027 campaign. This isn't a strategy-deck role. You'll be making the calls, writing the emails, updating the CRM and will leave behind a strong foundation the organization can continue to build on long after your contract ends.

What You'll Own

- Donor strategy & relationships: segment our Keela database, build cultivation plans for our top 10 - 12 donors, and personally re-engage lapsed and dormant supporters
- Pipeline building: research and qualify new prospects, and stand up a simple, usable fundraising pipeline from scratch
- Board activation: help our Board become active connectors and stewards, not just cheque-writers
- New revenue streams: get DAFs, planned/legacy giving, and cultivation events off the ground, and kick-start planning for our Spring 2027 campaign

What You Bring

- 3+ years in nonprofit fundraising or development,

with real individual-giving and donor-relationship experience
- A researcher's instinct for qualifying prospects, and a closer's instinct for moving them forward
- Comfort working directly with an Executive Director and Board; no big infrastructure needed, you just get things done
- CRM fluency (Keela experience a bonus, not a requirement)
- Bonus: experience with Donor Advised Funds, planned giving, or campaign development

Why This Role

- Real autonomy: you'll set priorities and run your own pipeline from week one
- Flexible structure: 20 - 25 hrs/week, remote-friendly, ideal if you're building a portfolio of contract work or want meaningful part-time impact
- A mission worth your time: help bring the arts and connection to isolated seniors and care partners across BC
- A clear runway: strong performance opens the door to renewal into 2027

How to Apply

Send a résumé or LinkedIn profile, to [email protected] and your responses to the following questions:

- We're looking for someone who loves doing the hands-on work of fundraising: making the calls, writing the donor emails, and personally reconnecting with lapsed donors. Can you share an example of donor re-engagement work you've done yourself, and how it turned out?
- Tell us about your experience with individual giving, donor CRMs, and/or planned giving or Donor Advised Funds.
- Are you based in or able to work from the Lower Mainland, BC, with occasional in-person meetings as needed?

Applications reviewed on a rolling basis - we're aiming to have someone in the seat by mid-to-late September 2026.

Health Arts Society is committed to building an inclusive team and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and experiences.
