Direct Support Worker's responsibilities are to support adult clients out in the community or in their homes. Focusing on assisting clients in building their basic life skills in the areas of cooking, meal planning, grocery shopping, budgeting, community/personal safety, and leisure activities. Assist clients with making informed decisions.
Must have own vehicle for transportation. Must have all required checks current; this includes Criminal Record Check, Child and Adult Abuse Checks, and First Aid. Must have a grade 12 education. Support work experience would be an asset.
Responsibilities
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and preferences
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Maintain a clean and secure environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces
- Monitor clients’ health status, report any changes or concerns
- Follow care plans accurately and document all activities, observations, and interventions diligently
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred
- Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate and patient demeanor
- Ability to perform light cleaning tasks and meal preparation efficiently
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and team members
- Valid certifications
Pay: $18.25 per hour Expected hours: 3.0 – 27.0 per week
