Dog Daycare & Boarding Supervisor
Previous supervisory or management experience required The Dog Patch is looking for a confident, experienced Supervisor who genuinely cares about dogs, people, and creating a positive workplace.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will work alongside our team while overseeing daily operations, supporting staff, communicating with clients, and ensuring every dog receives safe, compassionate, individualized care.
Our Supervisors are trusted to run the shift when a Manager is not present. The right candidate can make thoughtful decisions, take initiative, handle difficult conversations professionally, and recognize when an issue needs to be escalated.
What You’ll Do
Lead the Team
- Run shift-start meetings and create a clear plan for the day
- Assign responsibilities based on staffing, schedules, workload, and team strengths
- Provide team members with support, direction, coaching, and constructive feedback
- Hold yourself and others accountable to our policies and standards
- Help train and develop Daycare Attendants and Lead Attendants
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and supportive workplace
- Address concerns professionally and communicate important information to Management
- Lead by example and remain calm, focused, and solutions-oriented
Oversee Dog Care and Safety
- Make the health, happiness, and safety of every dog the top priority
- Ensure dog-care plans and safe-handling procedures are followed
- Monitor dogs for changes in health, behaviour, stress, or comfort
- Respond confidently and compassionately to dog-related concerns
- Support team members with dog handling and behaviour
- Ensure incidents and health concerns are documented thoroughly
- Communicate important updates to clients and Management promptly
- Treat every dog as an individual and adjust care based on their needs
Support Clients
- Greet and acknowledge clients warmly and professionally
- Build genuine relationships with clients and their dogs
- Provide clear, accurate updates about daycare visits, boarding stays,
introductions, and other services
- Respond to questions, concerns, and feedback with empathy and professionalism
- Recognize when a client may be confused, concerned, or unhappy and involve a Manager when needed
- Ensure additional services and charges are communicated clearly
Manage Daily Operations
- Oversee the flow, priorities, and productivity of each shift
- Ensure daycare, boarding, check-in, and check-out procedures are completed correctly
- Monitor staffing, attendance numbers, bookings, and facility capacity
- Follow up on tasks and make sure important work is completed or properly handed over
- Maintain detailed, accurate records in our communication and pet-care systems
- Ensure the facility remains clean, organized, safe, and properly stocked
- Identify maintenance or inventory concerns and communicate them to Management
- Keep Managers informed without requiring constant direction or supervision
What We’re Looking For Required
- Previous supervisory or management experience
- Strong leadership, delegation, and decision-making skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong organization, time-management, and follow-through
- Ability to stay calm and focused in a busy, highly stimulating environment
- Confidence giving and receiving constructive feedback
- Ability to navigate workplace conflict maturely and professionally
- Good judgment and the ability to think beyond the immediate situation
- Willingness to take responsibility, learn, and admit when you may be wrong
- Ability to communicate professionally through email and workplace software
- Reliability, maturity, self-awareness,
and a positive attitude
- Genuine compassion for dogs and respect for their individual needs
Strongly Preferred
- Professional dog daycare, boarding, kennel, veterinary, training, or animal-care experience
- Knowledge of dog body language and stress signals
- Experience safely handling dogs with different sizes, temperaments, and behavioural needs
- Familiarity with pet-care or task-management software

This is not a desk-only management position. Supervisors work directly with the team, dogs, and clients while keeping the full operation moving successfully.
Compensation
Starting wage is $25/hour, with room for negotiation based on experience.
Only applicants with previous supervisory or management experience will be considered.
