PURPOSE: We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Dough Maker / Order Packer. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient production of doughs for cookies while also fulfilling customer orders accurately and on time. This position requires a combination of culinary skills, organization, record keeping and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

DEPARTMENT: Operations
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Dough Preparation:
- Prepare batches of dough according to established recipes and production schedules;
- Measure and mix ingredients accurately to maintain product consistency and quality;
- Operate dough mixing equipment safely and efficiently;
- Monitor dough consistency and make adjustments as necessary to meet quality standards;
Order Packing:
- Pick and pack orders according to order specifications;
- Ensure accurate labeling and packaging of orders;
- Organize packed orders for shipment or pickup;
Sanitation & Quality Assurance:
- Conduct quality checks on doughs to ensure they meet company standards;
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the production and packing areas;
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines;
- Clean in between batches to maintain clean workspace
- Vemag assembly/disassembly and cleaning
Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients, packaging materials and finished goods;
- Notify supervisor of low inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed;
- Rotate stock according to FIFO and ensure proper storage of ingredients to prevent spoilage;
- Filling Ingredient bins and following cleaning procedures in between different lot codes
Team Collaboration:
- Coordinate with other team members to ensure smooth workflow and efficient production
- Communicate any issues or concerns regarding production or orders to supervisors promptly
- Assist in training new team members as needed.
Training and Backups
- Shadow training new team members when needed
- Provide cross-functional support by acting as a backup for various Operations team positions in which documented training has been completed.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in baking industry with strong quality assurance and food safety programs (BRC, SQF, FSSC or similar);
- Previous experience in a bakery or food production environment preferred;
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices;
- Ability to follow recipes and production schedules accurately;
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities;
- Ability to fill production logs and do basic record keeping;
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Education/Training, Credentials and Experience
- High School graduate or equivalent (GED) with College Degree;
- Training or work experience in quality assurance and food safety programs is an asset;
- Completion of the Food Handlers Certification Training is an asset.
WORK SETTING & EXPECTATIONS:
- Ability to work and stand for long hours - approximately three (3) consecutive hours of standing;
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs on a regular basis;
- Manual dexterity for forming, packing and accenting cookies is required;
- Temperatures that may be considered above “room temperature” and not to exceed 26C;
- Intermittent loud sounds lasting approximately 20 minutes at a time throughout the day (compressor machinery).
Ear protection is provided when on the loading dock;
- Smells include butter, sugar, chocolate, maple syrup, nuts. Must be free from allergies to any of these products;
- Flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends if needed (frequently happens September - December).
HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES OF ALL EMPLOYEES:
- Report any health and safety concerns
- Understand and follow Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) programs
- FSQA program activities as assigned (ex: logs, reports, meetings)
- Report any food safety, legality, quality or food defense concerns
- Follow health and safety program, reporting any concerns
