POSITION OVERVIEW
Drivers are responsible for picking up farm fresh eggs from our suppliers (Alberta farmers) and delivering packaged, graded eggs to our customers within Alberta and British Columbia. Drivers must ensure open lines of communication with dispatch to ensure efficient route planning and supply pickup from our reload sites.
Drivers must also laisse with clients on site as required ensuring satisfaction of delivery. Professional demeanor and conduct are necessary to be successful in this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operatea tractor trailer unit to pick up eggs from producers ina timelyand safe manner.
- Completepaperwork (farm slips),ensuring the amount of product being picked up at each location is correct.
- Operatea tractor trailer unit todelivereggsto our customersina timelyand safe manner.
- Oversee all functions of the vehicle, such as condition of the vehicle, equipment, and materials, loading and unloading, and safety and security of the load.
- Check the reefer temperature to ensure the functionality of the refrigeration system before leaving the yard.
- Maintain the general upkeep and care of the vehicle,reporting any maintenance/operating problems.
- Observeall safety, traffic, and criminal laws and regulations whileoperatingacompany vehicle.
- Participate in all assigned company training.
- Maintain standards of professionalism, both in appearance and in interactions with customers and the public in general.
- Followestablished HACCP (foodsafety), biosecurity, and health and safety procedures.
- Ensureall food safety issues are communicated with theDistributionManager.
- Live by the company’s mission, vision, and values.
- Build andmaintainpositive working relationships with all levels of staff.
- All other duties as assigned by the DistributionManageror Logistics Maintenance & Safety Coordinator.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Ability to read, write, and speak in English, with knowledge of basic math skills. Grade 12 education preferred.
- Five years of Class 1 city and highway driving experience.
- Valid Class 1 license with air brake endorsement. License must be current and driving record must be acceptable.
- Equipment Operator’s Certification tooperatethe forklift and pallet jack, or the ability to obtain certifications.
- Must be skilled at backing up and manoeuvring 35-53-foottandem axle trailers into difficult and constricted areas.
- Previouswarehouse experienceconsideredan asset.
- Must be able tocommunicateand work well with others as part of a team,demonstratingpoliteness, respect, and courtesy in communication and daily interactions.
- A mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skillsrequired.

The incumbent will be working in a proprietary environment. Policies and procedures are shared between the P&H; Foods Inc. group of companies. Discussion of these with non-P&H; Foods Inc. affiliated employees is strictly forbidden.
HEALTH, SAFETY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL
- Work in compliance with divisional and legislative health,safetyand environmental procedures.
- Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methods.
- Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts.
- Report defect in any equipment or protective device.
- Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks.
- Participate in all required health,safetyand environmental training.
- Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor.
- Assistin investigating accidents/incidents.
- Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessaryrunningor rough and boisterous conduct.
SWP (Safe Work Procedures) Pre-Operation
1. Inspect required PPE and replace if necessary
2. Put on all required PPE
3. Inspect machinery and mobile equipment for functionality and operational safety mechanisms
During Operation
1. Practice proper lifting techniques
2. Take frequent breaksin accordance withcompany policy/procedures
3. Workers must not be impaired by alcohol, drugs, or other causes
4. Workers must be aware of first aid locations
5. Workers must be aware of fire extinguisher locations and operating procedures
Post-Operation
1. Ensure equipment (PPE), machinery, and mobile equipment is fully disengaged, cleaned, stored, andmaintainedappropriately
Rotating schedule early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and some overnight is required
