Job Title: Electrical and Instrumentation & Control (I&C;) Engineer This role is for a Senior Electrical and Instrumentation & Control Engineer supporting nuclear projects from either Pickering or Mississauga, Ontario.

You will lead the development and review of engineering change packages, provide technical oversight across multiple projects, and support complex balance-of-plant and critical nuclear systems. The position offers the opportunity to work on highly technical, high-visibility initiatives within a large multidisciplinary engineering team, while expanding your expertise across electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.

Responsibilities

- Lead the development, review, and approval of engineering change packages for nuclear projects, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary team efforts to ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule and meet established quality expectations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve ongoing technical and site-related challenges across assigned work scopes, providing timely engineering support.
- Work closely with Project Leaders and the Design Manager to balance and distribute engineering resources across multiple projects.
- Support the Design Manager with staffing-related decisions, including resource planning, deployment, and project prioritization.
- Provide regular status updates and collaborate with Project Managers on project execution, schedule adherence, and risk mitigation.
- Oversee engineering timelines and monitor progress to ensure adherence to project schedules and milestones.
- Contribute to procurement processes by preparing and reviewing technical documentation, including specifications and technical requirements.
- Issue purchase requisitions and assess vendor proposals for technical compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Carry out inspections as required to support material acquisition and verify conformance with engineering specifications.
- Attend recurring meetings with the Design Manager to report on progress, address project needs, and align on priorities.
- Support and review engineering modification packages across multiple projects, ensuring consistency and quality in all documentation.
- Engage in complex balance-of-plant and critical system work, including systems such as DRI systems, instrument air, service air, standby generator systems, and moderator valve replacement projects.
- Provide engineering leadership and oversight for instrumentation and control systems, including PLC and DCS-based control architectures.

Essential Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain P.Eng status.
- Ten or more years of industry experience is preferred, ideally within electrical, instrumentation, and control engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, review, and approve engineering modification and change packages across multiple projects.
- Strong background in reviewing all components of engineering change documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Comfortable assuming engineering leadership and oversight responsibilities within a project or program environment.
- Familiarity with nuclear industry codes, standards, and procedures, with the ability to apply them in practical project work.
- Must have, or be able to secure, the required security clearance for work in nuclear facilities.
- Experience working within consulting organizations supporting the Canadian nuclear sector is an advantage.




- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for documentation, analysis, and reporting.
- Technical expertise in electrical engineering, instrumentation, and controls engineering, including I&C; system design and review.
- Ability to work effectively in a large, multidisciplinary engineering team and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience with PLC programming and distributed control systems (DCS), including configuration, troubleshooting, and integration.
- Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley platforms and related automation technologies.
- Familiarity with major control system vendors and platforms such as ABB and Siemens.
- Experience with control system engineering, including control logic, interlocks, and system architecture for industrial or nuclear applications.
- experience in electrical design for industrial or nuclear facilities, including balance-of-plant systems such as instrument air and service air.
- Knowledge of nuclear facility operations and exposure to high-visibility nuclear projects, such as standby generator systems and moderator valve replacement initiatives.
- Experience working as an Electrical Engineer or Instrumentation & Controls Engineer on complex, safety-critical systems.
- Ability to interpret and apply nuclear, electrical, and control engineering standards in design and review activities.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent work scopes and deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for preparing technical documentation, participating in meetings, and coordinating with project stakeholders.

Work Environment This is a 12-month contract role with the potential for year-over-year extension based on project demands and individual performance. The position is based on site five days per week in Pickering, with Electrical Engineers having the option to work out of Mississauga. Core working hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with some flexibility outside these hours as needed to meet project requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Pickering, ON.

Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
