The Prospect (Toronto East):

The Environmental Services (Maintenance) will ensure that the physical condition of the building is maintained while ensuring the safety of residents, employees and guests. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the general maintenance, servicing and repair operations to maintain the residence, equipment, furnishings, fixtures and the surrounding grounds in proper condition.

Key Responsibilities:

- Plan, implement, and execute a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual schedule of preventative maintenance activities.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels for maintenance.
- Identify and investigate residence deficiencies and equipment malfunctions, taking appropriate corrective action.
- Perform hands-on maintenance tasks, including minor building repairs, landscaping, electrical work, painting, plumbing, and equipment repairs as required.
- Meet with and organize key maintenance vendors onsite.
- Lead and support the housekeeping team, including scheduling and handling staff relations issues.
- Conduct regular reviews of the entire building and report findings to the supervisor.
- Responsible for monthly fire alarm and evacuation training.
- Ensure resident rooms/units are prepared for occupancy.
- Perform winter-related safety activities, including salting residence grounds,



monitoring ice and snow, and keeping grates and drains clear.
- Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

- 5 years of experience as a maintenance worker and team leader.
- Environment, Health & Safety Management certification considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrated hands-on skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, and equipment maintenance.
- Experience in retirement communities considered an asset.
- Certificate from a program in general maintenance.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask.
- Effective interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
