About Gather Catering

Gather Catering is a made-from-scratch boutique catering company delivering exceptional food and service for events throughout Calgary. We cater a wide variety of functions, including corporate breakfasts and lunches, cocktail receptions, weddings, private dinners, birthday celebrations, baby showers, celebrations of life, and other special events.

We’re looking for an experienced, reliable, and enthusiastic Event Chef to join our team on a casual, part-time basis.

This role is primarily focused on executing events and delivering great food and service on-site. You’ll work at a variety of venues and client homes throughout Calgary, helping bring our menus to life through final preparation, plating, cooking, setup, service, and teardown.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys the variety of catering, takes pride in presentation and execution, works well with a team, and can confidently step into an event and get things done.

Responsibilities

Event Execution

- Execute catered events according to Gather Catering's menus, event plans, and service standards.
- Complete final cooking, reheating, plating, garnishing, and presentation of food on-site.
- Set up event kitchens, food stations, buffets, and service areas.
- Work alongside the event team to ensure smooth and timely service.
- Assist with passed hors d’oeuvres, plated dinners, buffets, stations, and other styles of catering.
- Monitor food quality, presentation, temperature, timing, and portioning throughout service.
- Adapt quickly to different venues, kitchens, menus,



and event conditions.
- Assist with event teardown, packing, cleanup, and returning equipment and food to the kitchen.
- Represent Gather professionally when interacting with clients, guests, venue staff, and vendors.

Food Safety & Cleanliness

- Follow all food safety, sanitation, storage, transportation, and handling procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized workstations throughout events.
- Ensure food is held, transported, prepared, and served safely.
- Leave event kitchens and work areas clean and organized after service.

Teamwork & Professionalism

- Communicate clearly and effectively with chefs, servers, event leads, and other team members.
- Be dependable, punctual, and prepared for each event.
- Maintain a calm, positive attitude in busy and changing event environments.
- Work collaboratively and jump in wherever needed to help the event succeed.
- Help maintain Gather's high standards for food, hospitality, and professionalism.

Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional culinary experience.
- Catering or event experience is an asset, but not required for the right candidate.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a larger event team.




- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation.
- Able to execute food to a high standard while working efficiently and under time constraints.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation.
- Reliable, organized, and comfortable adapting to different environments.
- Friendly and professional when working around clients and guests.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Availability for a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

What We're Looking For This position is a great fit for someone who likes the energy and variety of catering and events and doesn't necessarily want to spend every shift doing production in a kitchen.
