Experienced Metal Fabricator / MIG Welder – Doors & Frames

ABBL Hardware Inc.

Calgary, AB | Full time, Permanent

$30.00–$35.00 per hour

Who We Are

Our mission is to be the supplier that is always a step above the rest, using integrity, innovation, and reliability as our building blocks to always provide our customers with A Better Bottom Line.

Our pledge is to create lasting relationships with our customers by providing satisfaction in all areas, including timelines, attention to detail, and service-minded attitudes. To fulfill this mission, we maintain high standards of professionalism, honesty, and fairness in our relationships with our suppliers and customers.

The Opportunity

ABBL is looking for an experienced Metal Fabricator / MIG Welder to join our production team.

This is not an entry-level welding position. We are looking for someone who has solid fabrication experience, can work independently from shop drawings, and takes pride in producing accurate, clean, finished-quality work.

Our team fabricates light-gauge hollow metal doors and frames, where precision matters. The right person understands how to achieve strong, clean welds while maintaining alignment, controlling distortion, and producing a professional finished product.

What You’ll Do

- Weld and fabricate light-gauge hollow metal doors and frames according to shop drawings and production sheets
- Perform accurate MIG welding on light-gauge steel
- Fit, assemble, modify, and finish metal components
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, technical drawings, and production sheets
- Measure, cut, prepare, and position materials accurately for fabrication
- Grind and finish welds to achieve a clean, professional appearance
- Maintain proper dimensions, alignment, and squareness throughout fabrication
- Inspect completed work for accuracy and quality
- Identify and troubleshoot fabrication issues as they arise
- Safely operate MIG welders, saws, presses, punching equipment, grinders, jigsaws, and other shop tools
- Operate a forklift as required

- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Work independently while collaborating with the production team to meet schedules and quality expectations

What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of relevant welding and metal fabrication experience preferred
- Proven MIG welding skills
- Experience working with light-gauge steel
- Strong fitting, measuring, and fabrication skills
- Ability to independently read and work from shop drawings and production sheets
- Experience grinding and finishing welded components to a clean, professional standard
- Strong attention to detail and precision
- Ability to control distortion and maintain dimensions during fabrication
- Good practical problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience fabricating hollow metal doors and frames is a strong asset
- Forklift experience is an asset
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks and safely handle materials as required

The Right Fit We are looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship.

This role requires more than simply producing a robust weld. Our products become part of finished commercial buildings, so accuracy, fit, and appearance matter.

You should be comfortable reviewing a shop drawing, understanding what needs to be fabricated, and completing the work accurately without requiring constant direction.
