Our client is looking for a dedicated Family Support Counselor to provide essential services to families in the Kimberley region. This role focuses on strengthening family relationships, addressing challenges, and promoting well-being through counseling and support services within the Northern Cape . You will work directly with families, creating a safe and supportive environment for them to navigate difficulties and build resilience. This position requires empathy, solid therapeutic skills, and a commitment to fostering healthier family dynamics through dedicated in-person engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual, couples, and family counseling sessions.
- Assess family needs and develop tailored intervention strategies.
- Offer support and guidance on parenting skills, conflict resolution, and communication.
- Facilitate group sessions for parents or families facing similar challenges.
- Connect families with relevant community resources and support networks.
- Maintain confidential client records and document progress accurately.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field.
- Registered or eligible for registration with the relevant professional board.
- Proven experience in family counseling and intervention.
- Strong understanding of family systems theory and child development.
- Excellent active listening, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with diverse families.
