Job Summary:
The Field Service Technician is responsible for efficiently diagnosing and repairing all service requests, ensuring that maintenance and inspections meet the company's high standards. This role involves close collaboration with service and parts personnel at the branch to expedite parts orders and estimate requests. The technician will communicate findings from inspections and repairs to customers, providing professional recommendations to resolve any issues.
Effective communication via phone and email is essential to keep both clients and the dispatch department informed about the status of service requests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to Dispatched Calls:
- Promptly respond to service calls dispatched to your area.
- Ensure timely arrival at customer sites to assess and address service requests.
- Troubleshoot and Diagnose Equipment:
- Perform thorough diagnostics to identify equipment issues.
- Use appropriate tools and techniques to accurately troubleshoot problems.
- Repair Equipment to Quality Standards:
- Conduct repairs following the company’s quality standards and procedures.
- Ensure that all repairs are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Perform Scheduled Maintenance and LDIs (Limited Data Integration):
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks as scheduled.
- Perform Limited Data Integration (LDI) inspections to ensure equipment functionality.
- Obtain and Submit Work Orders:
- Accurately complete and submit work orders for each service call.
- Provide detailed information and documentation for each job.
- Provide Detailed Information on Parts Needed:
- Identify and communicate parts requirements for repairs.
- Collaborate with parts personnel to ensure timely ordering and delivery of necessary parts.
- Support Dispatch in Tracking Parts Order Status:
- Assist dispatch in monitoring the status of parts orders.
- Ensure timely updates are provided to relevant parties regarding parts availability.
- Review Open Work Orders/Work in Progress (WIP):
- Regularly review and manage open work orders and work in progress.
- Prioritize and follow up on pending tasks to ensure timely completion.
- Follow All Warranty Procedures:
- Adhere to warranty procedures for repairs and parts replacements.
- Ensure that all warranty claims are properly documented and processed.
- Monitor Van Stock:
- Maintain an organized and adequately stocked service van.
- Regularly check and replenish van inventory to ensure readiness for service calls.
- Maintain a Clean Working Environment:
- Keep the work area and service van clean and organized.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a tidy workspace.
- Attend All Scheduled Meetings and Training Sessions:
- Participate in company meetings and training sessions.
- Stay updated on new procedures, technologies, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a field service technician or in a similar role.
- Solid diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency with tools and equipment used for maintenance and repairs.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Knowledge of warranty procedures and parts management is a plus.
