Thaifoon Hospitality Group
Canada
Company Description
Thaifoon Hospitality Group is a Canadian restaurant collective built around one idea: sharing authentic Thai flavours and warm Thai hospitality through modern, guest-first concepts. Our family of brands includes:
- Soi Thaifoon – a quick-serve and takeout concept serving bold, vibrant Thai street food, with locations in Kitchener, Oakville, Toronto, and Bangkok.
- Thaifoon Restaurant – a full-service dining experience that pairs contemporary design and premium ingredients with genuine Thai hospitality.
We are growing, and the way we grow is by making sure every location delivers the same great food and guest experience. That starts with how we train our people. Role Description The Field Training Manager is the person who makes sure Soi Thaifoon feels like Soi Thaifoon in every store. You will own training standards, operational consistency, and brand execution across all Soi Thaifoon locations, and you will be the go-to coach for store managers and team members as we open new stores.
This is a remote role with meaningful field time. You will design and deliver training programs virtually, then get into stores to see them in action, coach in person, and support recent store openings from pre-opening through the first weeks of operation.
What You'll Do
Build and maintain the training program
- Design, update, and own training programs for front-of-house and back-of-house roles, covering guest service, food safety, brand standards, and operating procedures.
- Develop digital training materials (video, job aids, checklists, e-learning modules) that teams can use on the floor and on their own time.
- Keep training content current as menus, recipes, equipment, and procedures change.
Deliver training in the field and online
- Lead virtual and on-site training sessions for managers, trainers, and hourly team members.
- Run train-the-trainer sessions so each store has in-house trainers who can onboard new hires to standard.
- Support new store openings: pre-opening training plans, opening-week coaching, and post-opening follow-up.
Coach for performance
- Assess training needs by store and by role, and build plans to close skill gaps.
- Provide ongoing coaching to store managers on leadership, service standards, and team development.
- Train teams on upselling, guest engagement, and speed of service to support sales growth in a fast-paced quick-serve environment.
Measure and improve
- Monitor performance metrics (guest feedback, speed of service, audit scores, sales per transaction, food safety compliance) and use them to prioritize training.
- Conduct store visits and operational audits, document findings, and follow through on action plans.
- Partner with operations and leadership to report on training effectiveness and recommend improvements.
What You Bring
Experience
- 3+ years in training and development, operations, or multi-unit management in restaurants, hospitality, or retail.
- Hands-on field training experience across multiple locations, including new store openings.
- Experience designing and delivering structured training programs, both in person and remotely.
- Post-secondary education in Hospitality, Business, Adult Education, Training, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Skills
- Training design and facilitation – able to build a curriculum from scratch, apply adult learning principles, and run engaging sessions for diverse teams with varying experience levels.
- Coaching and leadership – able to give explicit, constructive feedback, develop managers, and hold teams accountable to standards without losing their buy-in.
- Sales coaching – able to teach practical upselling and guest-engagement techniques and show teams how those tie to results.
- Restaurant operations – strong working knowledge of quick-serve and fast-casual service models, kitchen workflow, line setup, prep and portioning, and speed-of-service fundamentals.
- Food safety – solid understanding of food safety standards and allergen management; a valid Food Handler certificate (or ability to obtain one before start) is required, and Food Safety Manager–level certification is an asset.
- Digital learning tools – comfortable creating content in tools such as Canva, Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, video recording and editing, and learning management systems (LMS); experience with platforms like 7shifts, Trainual, or similar is an asset.
- Data and reporting – confident in Excel or Google Sheets, able to track performance metrics, spot trends, and turn them into training priorities.
- Communication and presentation – excellent written and verbal communication; able to write explicit SOPs and job aids, and present confidently to groups of any size.
- Project management – able to plan an opening or a training rollout end to end, manage timelines, and juggle multiple stores and priorities at once.
- Self-direction – proven ability to work independently in a remote role, manage your own schedule, and deliver without day-to-day supervision.
- Attention to detail – notices when a store is drifting from standard and addresses it early.
Assets
- Knowledge of Thai cuisine or experience in Thai restaurant concepts.
- Experience in a franchise or licensed multi-brand setting.
- Familiarity with POS systems and online ordering platforms (Toast, Popmenu, Uber) used in quick-serve.
- Strong understanding of AI technology and tools to assist with everyday tasks.
Requirements
- Valid driver's licence and reliable access to a vehicle; regular travel to Ontario locations (Kitchener, Oakville, Toronto) is expected, with occasional travel further afield for new store openings.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to support training during peak service and opening periods.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Salary Band: 60,000-80,000 CAD
