Our client in downtown Toronto is seeking to hire a Financial Accountant for a 6 month renewable contract.

This is an intermediate level accounting position requiring a minimum of 1-2 years relevant experience in financial accounting with knowledge of IFRS as well as basic treasury related knowledge. This position requires the individual to have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills along with a strong professional attributes. Due to the high level of interaction with other accounting staff and business units, strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Responsible for performing the monthly financial reporting and forecast to financial reporting system (HFM) for the holding companies.
2. Prepare monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation and analysis, and bank reconciliations.
3. Liaise with business units to reconcile intercompany accounts. Prepare journal entries and invoices.
4. Prepare monthly HST/QST/GST returns for Corporate Canada and five companies.
5. Review, analyze and record all cash receipts and disbursements.



Ensure proper supporting documentation is attached to journal entries.
6. Review invoices, prepare payment requisitions and liaise with vendors.
7. Assist with the preparation of accounting entries to record all treasury contracts.
8. Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual Statistic Canada reporting for Corporate Canada, the holding companies.
9. Support with the half-year, hard-close and year-end audit procedures.

DIMENSIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and pursuing CPA designation
- Working knowledge of SAP
- Strong organization time management and analytical skills

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills
