Fairvern Long Term Care Home is currently recruiting for a
Food Service Worker
Posting Date: Wednesday, September 09, 2026 Internal Closing Date: Wednesday, September 16, 2026 @ 12:00 NOON
External Closing Date: Wednesday, September 23, 2026 @ 12:00 NOON
Starting Rate: $26.23 hourly
Salary Range: $26.23 - $27.59 hourly
Status: Permanent part-time
Hours of Work:Minimum availability of 45 hours (6 shifts) in a two-week period, including every other weekend. Will be scheduled a minimum of 30 hours (4 shifts) during each two-week period with prospect to pick-up additional shifts

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Support Services, the Food Service Worker is responsible for the production of high quality food for the residents of the home in a safe and sanitary manner.
What you will do
- Assist in serving meals, snacks & beverages following resident’s diets & food preferences, using proper portion sizes
- Follow proper food handling techniques, keep work area clean and uncluttered
- Set dining room tables and trays accurately and neatly
- Assemble, operate and clean dietary equipment
What you will need
- Food Service Worker certification,
6 units at community college level (candidates without this qualification may still be eligible for consideration as a Dietary Aide underfill)
- Successful completion of a food handler training course (1 day) & maintenance of this qualification is required
- Completed police record check, including vulnerable sector screening
- Good communication skills and ability to read, write and follow written instructions in English
- Previous food service experience in an institutional setting, preferably LTC, would be an asset
