Fundraising Officer – Intern (New Position)

Temporary Full time Position

About Us: Our 19-bed bilingual Hospital is located in the town of Mattawa, Ontario. Our bilingual facility follows the vision of “Together, Guided by Medicine, Inspired by Faith, in a Place called Home” and is dedicated to the people of Mattawa, East Nipissing, and other residents of Ontario. We are sponsored by the Catholic Health Sponsors of Ontario and licensed under the Ministry of Health, and accredited by Accreditation Canada.

Our goal is to use a team approach in order to provide a safe, clean, comfortable and pleasing atmosphere for patients and their families.

The Opportunity: The Hôpital de Mattawa Hospital, in collaboration with the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), is seeking a motivated Fundraising Officer – Intern to support fundraising, donor relations, marketing, communications, community engagement, and special events. This is an excellent opportunity for a post-secondary student or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in non-profit fundraising and communications while contributing to initiatives that support the sustainability and community impact of a local healthcare organization. This position is dependent on continued NOHFC funding.

Responsibilities:

- Support fundraising, sponsorship, donor stewardship, and community engagement initiatives;
- Research funding, partnership, sponsorship, and stakeholder opportunities;
- Assist with proposals, presentations, reports, and donor communications;
- Maintain accurate donor, sponsor, and fundraising records;
- Create content for digital, social media, and promotional communications;
- Support marketing campaigns, storytelling, and impact reporting;
- Assist with fundraising and community events,



including logistics, volunteers, and sponsor recognition;
- Provide research, reporting, meeting, and administrative support, and represent the organization at community events and networking opportunities.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

- Post-secondary student or recent graduate in marketing, communications, business, or related field;
- Meets NOHFC eligibility requirements for the position;
- Bilingual English/French (preferred);
- Demonstrated interest in fundraising, marketing, communications, community development, or non-profit work;
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal and relationship-building skills;
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities/deadlines;
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality;
- Able to work independently and as part of a team;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital/social media platforms; database or graphic design experience is an asset;
- Strong attendance and work record;
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation;
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (required);
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.

Candidate Criteria Required by NOHFC:

- Candidate must be a new entrant into the workforce, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field.




- Candidate must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship in the 2020 Mandate.
- Candidate must be 18 years of age or older.
- Candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Once hired, the candidate must reside in the Northern Ontario community in which they are employed.

Additional Information:

Contract Length: Up to 1 year, with possibility of extension

Hours: 37.5 per week

Reports To: Interim VP Corporate Service / CFO

Hourly Wage: $25.69
