Overview

Reporting to the Manager, and under the supervision of the Clinical Geneticist and Genetic Counsellor, the Genetics Assistant is responsible for providing ongoing operational support for the Genetics program.

Responsibilities include referral processing, appointment coordination, genetic testing coordination and tracking, patient and family communication, data entry, and support for clinical, research, and educational activities.

EDUCATION

- Post-secondary education with a minimum of one year of related experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Bachelor of Science in Biology, Genetics, or a related field preferred.

Qualifications

- Previous experience supporting Medical Geneticists and/or Genetic Counsellors preferred.
- Previous experience in a genetics or clinical setting preferred.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to understand and follow clinical direction and established processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling personal health information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
