We are currently looking for an experienced Gluing Machine Operator to join our Production team at our Pickering, Ontario facility.

About the Role

As a Gluing Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating and monitoring folder/gluer equipment to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

The ideal candidate is an experienced operator with strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot equipment while maintaining production targets.

Responsibilities:

Machine Setup & Operation

- Set up and operate folder/gluer equipment according to job specifications.
- Perform complete machine make-ready, changeovers and adjustments.
- Set up the gluer to achieve required folds, pre-breaking of creases and adhesive application.
- Review job dockets and specifications to ensure the correct job is being produced.
- Obtain approved samples and verify machine settings before production begins.
- Maximize production speeds while maintaining product quality and safety.
- Monitor equipment throughout production and make adjustments as required.
- Ensure glue guns and glue pots are functioning properly throughout the run.

Quality & Production Control
- Complete line clearances between jobs.
- Perform regular inspections to ensure glued cartons meet quality standards.
- Complete Gluing Quality Checklists accurately.
- Set up and test Quality Assurance scanners and other inspection equipment.
- Set and verify case counters by manually checking the first case.
- Verify case label information is accurate.




- Maintain accurate production and carton counts.
- Record waste counts, production quantities and relevant production comments.
- Issue corrugate at the end of each production run.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Troubleshoot mechanical, feeding, folding and glue application issues.
- Perform scheduled maintenance as required.
- Identify equipment or quality issues and take appropriate corrective action.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.

Teamwork & Leadership
- Assist with training Gluers and other production team members.
- Provide direction to crew members as required.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a production team.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality and efficiency.

Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a strong focus on Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement and Customer Satisfaction.
- Follow all IFS PacSecure policies and procedures, including product safety, food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Complete all required housekeeping and safety activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on Folder/Gluer Operator experience.
- Experience setting up and operating folder/gluer equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and technical understanding of gluing processes and equipment.
- Knowledge of carton folding, gluing, compression and feeding systems.
- Experience performing machine make-ready, changeovers and adjustments.




- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, feeding, folding and glue application issues.
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, specifications and carton drawings.
- Strong understanding of quality control and glue bond requirements.
- Solid safety awareness and ability to follow established procedures.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining production and quality targets.
- Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime when required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Willingness and ability to work a 3-shift operation.

Nice to Have

- Experience operating Bobst, Jagenberg, JAG or similar folder/gluer equipment.
- Experience with straight-line, crash-lock, 4-corner or 6-corner cartons.
- Experience with cold glue and/or hot-melt glue systems.
- Mechanical troubleshooting and basic preventative maintenance experience.
- Previous experience training or leading gluer helpers/operators.
- Folding-carton or pharmaceutical/food packaging experience.
- Experience with vision inspection or glue detection systems.
- Basic computer and production reporting skills.
